And how about that crazy scenario we had two years ago? You remember that, don’t you? As TCU and Southern Miss get ready to play this Thursday night, one should recall that in 2001, the difference between Nebraska and Colorado going to the Rose Bowl to play Miami (with OREGON being the team that, all along, should have been invited to Pasadena… hmmm… seems like the Pac-10 might get stiffed again this season…) was TCU’s 14-12 win over the Golden Eagles. Because Nebraska played TCU… and did so at the very beginning of the season, a late December game in Conference USA determined the BCS title game matchup. For Nebraska, Colorado and Oregon—all three teams—the BCS was certainly not a playoff in 2001. The BCS was all about microchips and number-crunching. C’mon… this is worse than anything that happened in the 2000 election. To use a Beano Cook image, Al Gore got upset at home. When you get upset on your home field, you have no excuses. But in the BCS, it’s impossible to assign blame or separate the deserving team from the undeserving team. GAMES are meant to decide those kinds of things. Yeah, you know, HEAD-TO-HEAD COMPETITION? It’s a nice concept, isn’t it? Mildly entertaining, right? The idea has some potential, don’t you think. Oh, two more years of bull crap from the BCS. Fun…
Nice cut-n-paste, but I disagree with the author of that article. If anyone gets stiffed, it will be a team from the SEC. Beat TCU!
