TCU was ahead of us in 3 computer polls and ahead of USC in one ... so we should gain some ground here.

IMO, the big impact was removing the possibility of playing TCU in a BCS bowl. Political pressure would have forced the Fiesta or Orange Bowl to pick an undefeated TCU team ... should LSU not be in the Sugar, we could have been matched up against them.

A mild yet potentially damaging impact it had is to possibly/probably allow both Washington State and Tennessee to move up this week.

This is not good because it increases USC's BCS quality win point total plus it makes it more difficult for Florida to possibly pass Tennessee, something necessary to generate the ideal situation of facing Fla. in Atlanta while a #4 or #5 in the BCS Georgia sits at home and gives us .5 or .6 BCS quality win points in the final BCS regular season poll.
