I know we've all had our opinions this election season and I've personally had it with the media and even cancelled my subscription to the Times-Picayune. Even so, an occasional story is printed that seems to make many other issues seem minimal. Today I was walking through an office and saw the front cover of the paper. A picture caught my attention so I stopped and read the article. A 10-year old girl from Reserve, LA was dropped off at her grandmother's house to catch the school bus. The girl was a little late and tried to get the attention of the bus driver by running next the bus. The driver didn't see her and the bus drove over the little girl. The girl's mother was contacted and rushed to the scene to find her daughter being placed on a stretcher. She decided to take her off the machines instead of living in pain. The mom had asked for a kiss that morning before dropping her daughter off at her grandmother's house. The little girl said "I'll give you one tonight". Her mom gave her one last kiss before she died. If you've lost a child...GOD bless you. If you have children...go give them a kiss. If your children are adults...call them. If you're young and plan to have children...know two things. You'll have no greater responsibility and joy than being a parent. When will you be ready? When you're ready to commit everything (including your time) to a child...you're ready. If not...wait!
I just found the link. Read this instead of the short message I wrote. http://www.nola.com/timespic/stories/index.ssf?/base/news-31/1225171306189970.xml&coll=1
That story makes me incredibly sad. I can imagine nothing worse in the world than losing one of my daughters. I read a newspaper article a couple of days ago about a car accident, in which two teenaged sisters were killed. I couldn't fathom how those parents will survive such a loss.
