I've been asked to do a favor by getting some into for some family members who are not computer savvy like ole Jean Lafitte . . .

They want to tailgate near the Georgia Dome for the SECCG all day Saturday where the crowds and the action is.

What's the best plan? Get there early and reserve a spot?

Is there a place where we can rent a spot?

    They don't have a RV . . . only a regular automobile.

Any helpful info that you could offer would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Where we were in 03 was pretty good. There is a parking lot underneath the interstate we got there I think around 7ish and there was still plenty of parking. HATT and Ragoo were setup a stones throw away and the walk to the dome was short, I was on crutches and did it without breaking a sweat.

Not sure about tailgating. This is going to be my first trip to the SEC championship game so I'm kind of winging it. Thankfully our hotel is a few blocks away, so that means I'm just going to have to roam around with a case of beer.

Anywho, here is a link to the parking areas for the Georgia Dome on game day. I'm assuming that there will be tailgating all around this area.

I went there in '03 also. We left when I got off of work and stopped just outside Atlanta for the night. I think we got there around 10am and they were almost full. There are areas designated for tailgating. It cost $45 to get into the tailgate area. I would get there by 7am.

The SEC puts on a great time in the civic center next to the dome. There's a bar, several projection TVs, and plenty to keep the kids busy all day. The CC is a good place to get in out of the cold.

About two hours prior to kickoff, both team's bands come in and play for their fans. It's always crazy when the GBFTL make their way in...don't miss it.

The best tailgating, hands down, is about a block from the dome, across the street. It's where most of the RVs park. We'll be in there, with our trailer. For ten bucks, you can park in the large lot right across the street. Get there early, and there should be plenty of spots. I've noticed some people set up under the bridge, but it seems to be a long ways from the action.

    See ya there.

I've been at the HATT party for the last two LSU SECCG's. No reason for me to plan anything else, plenty of music & food. They usually have beverages but the lines get long, I'll bring my own ice chest. We usually take a cab/bus/MARTA so I don't know about the parking.

We always take Marta to the Dome and hang out just accross from the front of the GA Dome in the lot by the railroad tracks - its GREAT FUN! Even though we are always out numbered in the dome, we rule the parking lots - Tiger Tailgators everywhere! I have seen signs that say the parking is $45 in that lot from my recollection.

Since I'm a SEC Championship virgin forgive me for asking, but what is MARTA?

Train - its fast, cheap, easy to use. Several different lines from different areas of the city and drops you off right by the Dome. They run extra trains after the game to get everyone home quickly - its great. Just search it on the web for more details - you buy your token at the station - remember to buy one on the way in for the way home and that will save you much time.
