Along the way there was a post here about having a tailgate party for board members and inviting us Aubies. Did anything ever get set?

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe it proved to be too big a task. My buddy should have a good spot right up the hill that you guys (LSU & Auburn fans) are welcome to stop by but we're definitely not professional tailgaiters like some of the LSU fans around here. It would be more like my 5 yr HS reunion. Just show up at a rented out building and BYOB. Just like high school (except it was usually someone's house when their parents were out of town). If there is a big blowout being planned, I would try to help a little.

I think we should meet up at "Bushwood." (see Uncle Gus' post under "Whatcha Cooking?" We just need someone to bring "Hello, my name is" name tags and a marker/pen. We can write our real name, followed by "aka (board name)". In my case, it would be "Randy aka SpringTiger."

I do hope to get to meet some of you and connect names with faces. This is the only LSU game that I will attend this year.

I think it was too much to coordinate. You can't reserve a tialgate spot, its first come first served. So to get any kind of decent spot someone would have to camp out overnight. Even then the exact location would be difficult to predict and advertise to everyone on time.

Something to think about for next year though - finding a good spot and camping out overnight. For the Florida game a couple of friends and I pitched our tents on campus and saved a spot and a few parking spots for our friends. It was actually pretty fun. We woke up early and cooked breakfast, just in time to start cooking lunch. If enough people were seriously interested, different people could each take a week to camp out and secure a spot.

Another problem is that any BIG tailgate party needs to be on campus, but it is very difficult to park on campus anymore. So any tailgating gear (pits, ice chests, tables, etc.) would have to be carried a long way if you can't park next to the spot. Not to mention packing everything back up before the game would be impossible if you are not parked there.

Gus - how do you guys do it? I'll try to come by and visit you Saturday if I can.

If you are standing around the basketball arena (PMAC), there's a hill that goes up for about a 100 yds or so. It's the spot that the band comes down when they enter the stadium, usually about an hour and a half before kickoff. Try to catch that if you can.

Anyway, if you keep going up the hill and go until the street ends, our spot is right there (across the little street that intersects it). The lot is first come but we're usually about 20 yds from the indian mounds, or "campus tits" as some people call them. Its a good location, kind of central to everything. Anyway, I'm going to call my buddy tonight and make sure he gets the parking pass (which he should). I know most of you may be travelling and not check the site tomorrow but I'll let everyone know if its OK to use his spot as an informal Tigerforums tailgate. It won't be lavish or anything but it would still be cool to meet a couple of you guys.

Proud Tiger, I don't know if my psyche will be able to handle hundreds of Auburn fans at my tailgate but your group and others that have been around this week on TigerForums are welcome to stop by. I'll send you a PM in a little bit. I was treated well in Auburn after our 31-16 win ('97?) so I feel like I should return the favor.

99, I will try to stop by and say "hi," as well. My three buddies and I are leaving very early Friday (tomorrow!) morning so we can play the Bluffs.

Got any extra tickets? I still need four! Virtually everyone I know in BR is (supposedly) looking for me, but I have none yet! I'm beginning to get worried!

Spring, home of Josh Beckett. I'll be leaving Houston right after lunch so you'll be a little ahead of me. Don't know of any tickets but that spot by our tailgate where the road makes a "T" usually has a lot of ticket sales going on. Some guy wanted $125 a ticket for the Georgia game but I'm sure the price went down as it got closer to kickoff.

That's right! Home, also, of Thomas Dunson! :dis: What part of Houston are you in, BTW?
