Just out of curiosity....does anyone have any guestimates as to how much the #1 TAF contributor gives each year....what about 1-10....1-100.......the sugar bowl ticket system got me thinking about this. I wonder if #100 gives close to 100,000 per year.....??? anyone???
Well keep in mind you get points for several other things besides donation. For example If you letter at LSU you get 5 points (As opposed to years in Taf is 1) IE lettering in a sport is like donating 5000 dollars So there is a good chance its someone like Billy Cannon (No jokes please) or David Toms. Here is the Priority point system as defined by TAF Each $1,000 donated to a TAF Annual Membership Fund, TAF Annual Ticket Fund or LSU Coaches’ Accounts - one (1) point Each $1,000 donated to TAF Philanthropic Programs - two (2) points For each consecutive year of donation to TAF under $100** - one (1) point For each consecutive year of donation to TAF of $100 or more**- three (3) points TAF Collegiate Club Membership per Year - one (1) point LSU Varsity Letter Winners per Sport - five (5) points Service on TAF’s Board of Directors per Year - two (2) points Service on TAF’s Executive Committee per Year - three (3) points Service as President of TAF per Year - five (5) points
My doctor is an LSU Alumnus and big time Tiger fan and season ticket holder. He also lives in my neighborhood and Monday night I saw him at a nearby convience store and we greeted each other with the "Go Tigers" and "How about them Tigers?". Talked with him about the SECCG and asked him if he was going to go to the Sugar Bowl. He said that he had better get some tickets from LSU with "the big check he sends to Baton Rouge every year". Now, I didn't ask him how big was big, but I think by the way he said it that it's pretty substantial. I think that there are some people who donate some serious jack to LSU. And I bet a lot of them wouldn't want their donation to be made public.
I think TAF and LSU need to also add to the equation how many road games you buy, Bowl games etc etc. And add that to the equation.. For example they should reward the guy who went to the Peach Bowl 3 years ago, and realize that since this game is at home NOW he wants to go. I guess thats just me. I just think they should add to the priority system tracking of "Loyalty" and buying of road games and (less desirable) bowl games.
