The progress made by this Tiger team has been astounding. I think most of us felt like Kelly could fix things but might take a few years. The cupboards were bare with 39 scholarship players at the end of last season. The year started off ugly but surprise, the Tigers are SEC west champions. What is your biggest surprise that led to this? Daniels progress? O Line? Defense stepping up and covering injuries? Emergence of Perkins Emergence of WIlliams? Coaching? Defensive game plans; Calling plays to better fit Daniels? Playing time together?
Defensive secondary has outperformed my expectations. But I should say entire defense since the DL has certainly helped the DB’s cause…
being ranked 5 with 2 losses says more about Brian Kelly than it does LSU…. would we be at 5 if Ed was still here? Instead of gutsy play against bama it would have been described as a fluke imo…
Yep, they're losing it on Twittr. Surprise for me (other than winning the West) would have to be Josh Williams development. I know I posted on here during one game thread, how is this guy getting so many reps over a 5-star and a 4-star, but now he's the guy I most want to see get the carry if we need a tough yard.
Felt good about Brad Davis, still pleasantly surprised. Williams has been great. Was hopeful House was as good as he showed at UK. Was worried about Denbrock and QB when JD was named starter; those two being positives exceeds expectations. Perkins is generational, so he’s near the top. But BK is incredible. Way exceeded expectations; orchestrating everything so far is masterful.
Good point about Daniels; its easy to forget most of us thought Myles Brennan would be our starter this year.
BK system but in. He tempered expectations somewhat from beginning of year. I’m not sure if it’s surprising or not. But, BK’s approach seems to be workman-like, honest, and inspiring. Just an observation. What I have seen from coach seems to work.
