Significant or insignificant for LSU in that this is the field on which the Sugar Bowl is played. Pictures: http://neworleanssaints.com/photogalleryhome.cfm
That'll also probably be the last post by pppppppp, as I've finally deleted all my old cookies, and can now long in with my proper name.
Have the players made any comments about it yet? The old turf did not really offer any cushion from the concrete. Grass is always my first choice but in domes these new turfs that are coming out are usually a big step up from older astroturf.
Since we play Ole Miss next week and they use the same turf I'm hoping that LSU can somehow make an arrangement to practice one or two days down in NO on the AstroPlay. I've heard it takes a little getting used to.
By the way, AstroPlay is the cheaper and less quality version of the new turfs. The good one is called Field Turf.
I think that our speed showed up really well on the old turf in the Sugar Bowl. Haslett has said he didn't think that there was much difference in speed in the old vs. the new. Anybody heard anything different on how it affects speed?
What the deal was is that the makers of Astro Play gave the Dome a better deal than the makers of Field Turf did due to the exposure the surface and it's various paintings will get in the coming months...think about it....all the Saints games are on TV, the Bayou Classic is on national TV, as well as the NC game taking place in the Sugar Bowl. Nice to know some sort of "kickback" happened...this IS Louisiana, after all! HAHAHA I think ol' Edwin had something to do with it from his room at Club Fed.
