Driving home tonight I was listening to a sports program where they talked about the surface in the Superdome being somewhat damp for the Saints-Cowboys game and that the Saints wore longer cleats.

Even Parcells mentioned after the game they didn't even consider wearing longer cleats until it was too late.

What is up with this? Does that artificial surface get damp and are we aware we may need longer cleats?

I know this all sounds insane but supposedly some Cowboy players did have trouble with traction.

Sounds like a rope-a-dope thing. Hopefully LSU is prepared for this. I'm worried because Oklahoma is practicing at the Superdome and we're not.

    I'm being too paranoid aren't I?

LSU will get an equal number of practices at the Superdome. As organized as Saban is with his attention to every detail I'm sure he will make sure the Tigers are wearing the best shoes possible for that kind of turf.

I remember Saban saying or being qouted a couple of weeks back that he had talked to the Saints about the best shoe for that surface and getting their recommendation.

Ok...doesn't make much sense to me, though. What I remember from my high-school days is that we had equipment managers who were responsible for actually putting the correct length cleat on the shoe. What I mean is, that if there was a problem with footing, the cleat could be changed during the game. The pros don't have this? We had it in high school.

I just heard a story on ESPN which indicated that Oklahoma brought with them to practice today, 500 pair of shoes. THey were trying to figure out which ones worked the best.

Maybe that's why their practice ran 40 minutes over the alloted time and kept LSU waitin. Man, I'd bet Saban was not a happy camper.

    GEAUX TIGERS !!

You know how women love shoes...

Remeber the Boss Shark...We had the best equipment mgr around. You know those finer points have all been passed down to JB's understudies.

I was at the New Orleans Bowl (middle son goes to North Texas) and North Texas had a lot of problems with the turf. Memphis seemed to pick a better shoe/cleat. I hope LSU watches this VERY closely!
