Hey, What is the strangest crawfish dish you have ever had? Was it good? Got a recipe or pic of it? Mine is crawfish bread. It sounds strange, but it is soooooo good! Here is a link to a pic and recipe if you want to see it: Crawfish Bread What's your pick? :milesmic:
Crawfish shish-ka-bob. On a survival camp out when I was a boy scout, we had to go for 24 hours on what we could find in the woods. The other patrols did no better than find some blackberries, but my patrol trapped a bunch of crawfish. We had no pot to boil them, so we peeled them and skewed them on sticks to cook them. It was great. If we had some Tony Chachere's it would have been perfect.
I don't consider these strange, but some might. Crawfish omelet or quiche ... add leftover boiled crawfish to omelet/quiche Crawfish stuffed potato ... bake potatoes, cut in half and scoop out the inside. Saute onions, bell peppers, and garlic in butter. Add crawfish. Let mixture cool, then add sour cream, cheese (optional) and potatoes. Mix well and stuff the potato shells. Bake until hot.
lol That is a bit strange huh? I bet you guys had a blast cooking them :O) Now this is a strange one I would like to try! I love hushpuppies!! You know, I have done this too. I gotta say it's great! :geauxtige
Not strange but different. My wife cooks a mexican cornbread and adds crawfish tails. A meal all its own although she serves it as a side dish.
sounds awesomer. i dont think anything with crawfish sounds crazy except for maybe a dessert. then it'd still probably be good. theres one restaurant we go thats out in the boonies that has the best seafood stuffed potatoes. shrimp, crawfish, the works. absolutely awesomest.
As an aside, for those who don't know how hushpuppies got their name: At boucheries and the like, when people were doing a lot of cooking outside, the yard dogs would smell the food and get to barking for a morsel. The cook would throw a chunk of batter into the hot oil and throw it to the hounds to shut them up. Even now, some people refer to hushpuppies as "shutupdogs".
