Read this fron the Houston Chronicle and see why. This e-mail campaign by LSU backers is not only stupid, it is very irritating. Or maybe it's irritating because it's so stupid. Listen, you won't get voters, especially this one, to change an opinion by clogging up e-mail inboxes with copied form letters. Your e-mails are being deleted almost as quickly as all the other spam I get each day. Unfortunately, I have to open them to see if they are legit before I can trash them. But keep it up, and I'll have to go into "max protect" mode, meaning I will treat e-mail from anyone with an "eaux" in their name just like I do any e-mail that has the words prescription, bigger, exciting, Viagra and Paris Hilton in them. (OK, if it says "free Paris Hilton" I do give a quick look-see because I may travel to France next summer.) As I write this, my computer continues to yell at me, "You've got mail homey!" ... Yep, more junk about LSU. Would you back off if I promise to consider making a switch if LSU beats Georgia by a huge margin and USC struggles against Oregon State? As always, your questions are welcome - even those from Louisiana - and basketball season is upon us. Stop the Email Campaign
Maybe what shouldn't have started at all, has now been picked up by LSU haters and run with. MUCH thanks for leaving those addresses up for 1 1/2 days. Who knows who's e-mailing these guys at this point. True LSU Fans need to back off big time. Thanks.
If they change their votes or decide NOT to change their votes because of a concerted, organized effort on the part of our fans to influence them in a positive manner and their voting patterns, then they should have their voting privileges summarily dismissed. Bottom line. People can do what they like. If these people responded in such a jaded manner, then you can't do anything but point to the outright hypocrisy of these individuals... Baton Rouge has no ready made media machine. They have no hype engines, such as the likes of a 12-0 regular season would do for Oklahoma, and the West coast does for USC... Just my $0.02
I touched base with 20+ guys and got some great responses. I consider that one to be a descent response. The message is out there. I havent emailed anyone since Sunday and I'm glad we did it. They all know, and we expect cooperation. Anyone that hates the BCS should vote for us, because that would really P O the ESPN/ABC/BCS Juggernaught having their Goldenchild in LA get slighted. It will make them reconsider their own creation.
People are voting and being held accountable for their votes, what a novel concept!!!! Although I've not sent any email messages, I have NO problem with those people who are doing so. I suppose one could very well make the argument that these voters were not going to change their minds anyways, so it does not matter anyways. No emails sent - they vote USC #2 Emails sent - they vote USC #2 Face it, as far as the human polls go, it's all about catering to the larger market team. That will not change overnight for LSU. In order for LSU to be favored nationally in such polls, LSU will have to finish several years in a row in the top 5.
So irritating someone who could be potentially be in LSU's corner is O.K. right? What's done is done for LSU Fans and the e-mails. We just ask that true LSU fans back off at this point. Let's hope all the pro LSU e-mails from this point forward are the opposition of LSU helping irritate these guys.
Tundra Tiger, could you possibly either post those reponses on here or private message them to me? I still think the campaign will end up having an overall positive influence. It's not surprising that some have responded with frustration and bitterness. I might, too. I'd especially reply in such a manner if I knew the possibility of what might happen if I wrote how these emails changed my mind. It would set a precedent which most sports writers who don't work that hard wouldn't like. By writing positively on the email campaigns, the writers would be welcoming future email campaigns.
