Warren Buffett doing this by himself will do very little in the grand scheme of things....however if every SUPER-RICH person in the country were to do it, then it could make a difference...especially over time. That's why WB is banging this drum. Because HE thinks the drum is worth banging.

So THAT is how I disagree with joker.

Now, I would like to hear exactly how either of you disagree with this:

Damn few jobs are created by stock market investment. The stats show that the gap between the rich and the middle class grew significantly because of the Bush tax breaks.

So answer the question, Why hasn't 10 years of tax cuts and Trillion-dollar hole in national income (and a hole in our debt) solved the jobs problem?

Yes, but WB is smart enough to know that if he did it alone it wouldn't have much of a profound affect on the problem....however if the tax code were changed in a way that it made every Warren Buffett in the country cough up more...then it would make a difference....especially over time.

Warren Buffett is not stupid. Neither are you. You knew that.

Now, I answered your question. I ask that you please answer mine.

Middle-class customers have been keeping your bosses rich for 40 years.

It most certainly is conjecture to say that he wants to other people to pay more but not himself, considering he said no such thing in the article. Him not volunteering to cut a huge check to the government in no way proves that. Be better at consulting a dictionary and staying on point.

correct, you are agreeing with me that he is calling for others to pay more, not just himself.

i tend to beleiove that money in private hands is better for the economy than money in public hands, because it is managed more efficiently.

for example the things buffet does with his money, like invest in kraft or geico, these things are good. they provide jobs and help people. they are not wasteful. buffet doesnt put his money into wasteful things because he expects his investments to succeed. thats the opposite of how government works.

and buffet is also a major contributor to the bill gates foudation, proving billions for vaccines ans suh in africa, a worthy cause if ever one existed. so rich people dont just take theor money and stuff it under their pillow. and unlike the government, they dont throw it at failed business in bailouts, or waste it some other way.

simply put, i believe in trickle down economics. i agree with sabanfan's point, the rich are the ones who are hiring us. bill gates, the richest man in america, how many jobs has he created? sam walton and his family, owners of wal-mart, how may jobs have they created?

rich people are good for the economy, w should not try to bleed them dry because we can. that hurts us. rich are rich because they have something helpful that other people are buying. something to exchange for mutual benefit. like warren buffet is rich because he knows how to support companies that succeeed. that is tremendously good for the economy, and he has earned the money he has. and he is using it in a way that helps the economy. he isnt supporting failing business, he is supporting business that work. he is the opposite of government waste. so let him have his riches. and invest with him if you want to be rich.

    It's absolutely and totally relevant.

If some one is demanding something from others, shouldn't he first step up to the plate and do what he wants others to be forced to do?

Of course being hypocritical has never stopped the left before, why should they start now.

Liberals love being generous with other people's money.

It makes them feel good about themselves.

no i mean he wants others to pay, in addition to himself, which is what i said before, if you would read:

"he wants other people to also be forced to pay more." - me, a few posts back.

and again, clearly he could pay more if he wanted, so it isnt about him, is it. it would make no sense to whine that you are not paying enough to the government when the amount you pay is up to you.
