Greetings LSU Tigers! I come in peace. I am a Miami Dolphins fan, and ever since Wanny got canned(thank god!), we have been hearing rumors of Nick Saban possibly coming down to Miami. I was just wondering what the real fans of LSU have heard and think about his situation. Any information whether it be good or bad for Dolphins fans would be highly appreciated. Thank you!
ok upon request I'll edit. No one knows what NS thinks except NS. We think he is happy and will be here for at least a couple more years. there was a rumor he was interested in the browns, however, along with every NFL and college job opening since he left Kent St.
Coach Saban will be at LSU for at least one more season. The Dolphins will miss out on Saban due to their timing (you will already have a coach). I did hear Saban say, at a social function a few months back, that he absolutely despises cold weather - his wife laughed in agreement. So, you got that going for you, but I think he sits tight for 2005... If you see Ricky, tell him I said High...
Yeah, it's Christmas Time for sure But, of course ... All the NFL X-Mas Elves (politically correct saying for mental midgets) going yakety-yak ... ringing their bright red bells and selling their annual load of coaching change manure and good cheer ... just in time to wind up the recruiting dummies chasing the Top prospects and scaring them about a committment to LSU ... wow, imagine the timing ... putta "coin incide" us ... a dime ... and watch 'em dance
The Miami job is the one job that Saban talked directly about and said he is not interested in as soon as the coach quit and the rumor mongers hit the switch. It was actaully the first time I remember him denying a report so quickly.
I understand that after Saban wins his second national championship next year, he will take the reigns of the LSU basketball program and attempt to bring back the glory years of LSU hoops.
If I am reading between the lines correctly, I dont think Nick is going anywhere for a very long time. Both he and Terri have talked before about this and both have even said they are ready to settle down and stop all the moving. Followed by we are very happy here. Plus, I dont think that Nick will go for the loss of total control over football operations that a pro job would bring.
Nick has stated that he would like to build a legacy here and that he wants to build a nationally recognized program year in year out. He has just scratched the surface of those goals and it would seem that he has the program where he wants it in terms of heading in the right direction to achieve what he set out to do. A legacy isn't built in 4 years. When he said he wants a top ten program that is a national contender year in year out, I don't think he meant just for two years (which is how long we've been a national powerhouse). I believe he wants to continue this dominance for at least another 3 to 5 years.
Skip Bertman AD recently stated that no team has contacted him to talk to Saban. So that first step has not been taken by your Dolphins, and who knows why. But that definitely means any talk of him going there is very premature.
No offense Nublar, but we have had many threads on this subject and I just don't want to type my opinion over and over again. Try using the Search feature and you will find a ton of comments on the subject.
