LSU has advantages over UGA in almost every statistical category: We outgain UGA by 39 ypg (425 vs 386), mostly because our ground game gets 35 ypg more than UGA's (179 vs 144). Although passing offense is virtually equal in yardage (246 vs 242), LSU is considerably more efficient in its passing (153.97 vs 127.82 rating). On defense, total yardage is almost equal (260 vs 261), but we give up less ground yardage (69 vs 90) and more passing yardage (190 vs 171). However, we have an advantage in pass efficiency defense (95.17 vs 103.14). Significantly, we score 8 points more per game than UGA (35 vs 27), and allow a point less per game in scoring (10.58 vs 11.83). The only area where UGA has a significant advantage over LSU is turnover margin (plus .33 vs plus 1.17 per game), which is explained by the fact that LSU has turned over the ball more than UGA (12 fumbles, 12 ints vs 4 fumbles, 9 ints), since LSU and UGA get an almost equal number of turnovers from our opposition (12 fumble recoveries, 16 ints vs 12 fumble recoveries, 15 ints). UGA has a very good defense, but not quite as good as LSU's. UGA also has a pretty good offense, but not as good as LSU's. Bottom line, if we don't beat ourselves by giving UGA the ball, I think we should win by more than a touchdown. :geaux:
