Looks like the best chance we have at going to the Sugar, save an Oregon State win next week, is to convince enough voters in one of the two polls to vote LSU #2.
The team shows the poll voters on the field, not the fans through emails and letters. I think the Tigers swayed some voters, and I'm sure Saban rather earn in on the field of play rather than cry like Oregon about getting shafted and not getting enough media attention. What's next, a billboard in NYC?
I don't see media polls changing. They never do. As long as USC wins next weekend, they will be #2 in both polls. Computer polls rule!
The voters LSU will remain #3 if we do not go to sleep against GA no matter how bad we beat Ga it will not help in the BCS the Sugar is out !
Is the Sugar really out of the question at this point, even if USC wins out? I think we can still get there, even the biased media is saying that this race for #2 is not as cut and dry as everyone thought. All Saban and the Tigers can do is win the SECCG and show the voters that the Tigers belong in the Sugar. At this point, I think we have a better chance at the Sugar than USC. I might be wrong, but I won't waste time begging pollsters to vote for my team.
There have already been a few voters who have said that if LSU wins the SECCG they just may move LSU ahead of USC on their ballots. It's better to be playing Georgia than Florida because so many people think Georgia is all that and also that it's very difficult to beat a good team twice in one season. Add to that the fact that it's a virtual home game for Georgia... This thing is not over yet! But the Tigers need to take care of their business next Saturday!
Now, there's a great idea. Somebody get a list of the 63 AP voters ... 62, Rabalais will vote LSU ... 3 others already have ... thats' (4) for LSU ONLY 30 more or so to go ... 32 voters of 63 won't be enough because some have LSU #4 or #5. Who in the hell has a LIST of AP Voters? I can't find it in any search engines.
You see the first voter on the list? You don't have to worry about him, he is my Uncle and he graduated from LSU, and likes the Tigers. I'll send him and email this week and see what he says. The media has made its case for USC for the past few weeks. They have proclaimed USC to be "cleary" the #2 team in the land, the "obvious choice" to face OU. All these claims, however, go unsubstantiated. If this were a court case and we were arguing about who deserves #2, do you think we'd have a shot? I think that we have more than enough evidence to sway the thirty or so voters needed to our side. If we do not make a case for ourselves, who will? When someone finishes compiling a list of the email addresses (unfortunately, I have too much work to do to do that), we need a committee to write a brief and succinct essay as to why LSU deserves to be ranked #2. Comparing LSU's opponents to USC's opponents, head to head match ups between opponents (like Auburn, who we led 31-0 in the third quarter, whereas USC only led 16-0 going into the 4th with the game still in question), LSU's tougher conference schedule, the fact that even though two teams really hurt our BCS (W. Ill and ULM), we still have a better or equal strength of schedule, etc. I'm sure we have a group here smart enough to write a convincing, concise essay. This thread: http://www.tigerforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9089 has some points I think need to be exposed. You may have to update the stats, however, because they were written last week.
