Spurrier unloaded on SEC officials on his radio show and the SEC repremanded him for his comments. Ever since the OBC has re-entered the league, I have kind of warmed up to him. He's had to eat his share of humble pie at SC, but he's still plugging away. And now he's taken aim at SEC officiating. OBC says that SEC officials "get together and have a beer with thier buddies after gameweek and talk about how they put it to the obc and the gamecocks." Slive talks about how the coaches must refrain from making public comments about officiating - but how in the hell are coaches supposed to say the emperor has no clothes? Officiating in close LSU games has been deplorable, especially on the road. 5 blown calls in the AU game, Hester's no touchdown against UF and the missed muffed punt at Tennessee (also all the false start penalties were the result of Tenn defensive players mimicing Russell's snapcount, a penalty that was never called against Tennessee). What does the SEC have to say after that crap? "Officials made the right calls." - SEC Assclowns So what else is a guy like Spurrier and Miles, etc. to do? I say they need to go public - say what needs to be said - to force some kind of change. Bring in refs from other parts of the country. Those guys who officiated the Auburn game cheated, goddammit! With as much riding on regular season games as we have now, getting the officiating FAIR seems like the right thing to do. I am sure LSU has benefited from some home cooking (case in point - the Bama game where Webster obviously interefered in the endzone to end a BAma scoring threat and turn momentum in our favor - we won the game) - but playing in the SEC on the road is brutal, a team should not have to beat the other team, deal with its fans AND overcome horrible officiating. Speak up Miles! Shout it OBC! Lets get these damn rednecks off the field and drop some coin to import some decent officials!
Great post. If they are competent there shouldn't be a "Gag order", and how can they expect a coach to be quiet when they are blowing such huge, game-changing calls when so much is riding on each game? It might interest some to know that the Pac 10 schools feel the same about Pac 10 officials too. I know it's not an easy job but, man, have there been some duzies this year- and with the technology available, there should be few, if any.
I would rather him keep it professional. We both know officiating has been crap this year but there are ways to go about it. Whining on a radio show is not one of those ways.
So then if not on his radio show then how would you let people know how the Refs screwed you?LSU! :usaflagwa  :geauxtige
He is just trying to get the calls next week, and most likely will. The ref's here this stuff. :geauxtige
Yes, they would but they also (like most people) don't want to be embarrassed publicly either so it's in the back of their mind. If one coach is going to call 'em on it and the other won't type scenario. You know how that goes...... The squeaky wheel gets the oil. :yelwink2: Honestly, in the "Heat of the moment" an official doesn't have the time to process all of that anyway... I would think that most want to make the correct call and look good at their job.
As bad as SEC officiating, PAC-10 is downright disgraceful. It came to a head in the OU game. Whoever both made the original call on the onside kick and definitely whoever reviewed it and failed to overturn it, should never see the light of day officiating every again. Mandatory lifetime ban is the only way to go with at least the reviewer.
