I think Spurrier is a great college coach because he knows how to exploit weaknesses in Defenses. However, In the NFL, everyone is pretty good, compared to college teams. Another words, the NFL is more competitive, and at Florida, he always had plenty of great skilled players that could expoit defenses with his offense. (speed killed) Now in the NFL the defenses are just too good. It's like playing Florida State every game, you may win 5 out 10.

Spurrier always won games with the big play offense. Fun and gun. In the NFL is just isn't going to happen when every linebacker can run a 4.5 40.

    Any thoughts to my theory?

I think he will return to college coaching a program that can offer good opportunities for recruiting. Duke or UNC are not the good places for that fomula. I could see UT (Texas)

Bobby Bowden is getting pretty old. Wouldn't it be funny if Visor Boy became FSU's coach?

I don't see that happening. I could see him going to a school in a BCS Conference that is struggling. Perhaps Duke, Kansas, Stnaford, Cal. The man can work wonders. Give him a couple years and he will have a winner.

I can't see him taking the job at any of the above. He would be more likely to go to a school that is willing to pay the kind of salary he commands and would be committed to funding the kind of program he would expect to build. He has already been coach at Duke but that was when he was a bright young coach still building his reputation. Sure Coach K has built Duke into a basketball dynasty but I don't think even Spurrier could recruit enough blue chip football players to Duke to compete with Miami, Florida State and Virginia Tech in the ACC year in and year out. He could do that at Clemson. If he is not interested in the opening Clemson is likely to have at the end of this year I could see him taking his $25 million and taking a year off from coaching. Do some TV commentating, play a lot of golf and wait until there is a vacancy at some other big time program.
Does anybody know whether the decision to trade Steven Davis was Spurriers or Dan Snyders?

Saban and Spurrier to Trade Jobs.

Maybe they will trade jobs: Saban to the Redskins and Spurrier to LSU.

Why not? The media rumor mill has both of them seeking greener pastures at the other level.

That is one goofy rumor. Why would Spurrier go back to the college ranks when EVERYBODY knows that college head coaches like Coach Saban CAN HARDLY WAIT to get a HC job in the pros?

    (sarcasm)

If Saban left for the NFL and Spurrier came back to college, I'd welcome him with open arms to LSU. He would probably come here in a heart-beat. He's always wanted the LSU job.

I like Saban as a coach but imagine Spurrier with JaMarcus Russel. Might set some records............
