QB looks very good. JJ is in control - hope he keeps it. Shep is amazing for a high school senior. nice intensity on def but the arm tackling is back...
I didn't go to the game and just saw the video. I'm pumped and can't wait for next year!! How many people looked at the video only once? I don't know how to watch film analytically, but as a fan...it was exciting to imagine the opponent was Bama or Florida. I really want to see us make Tebow cry again and make Meyer choke on the words of "the promise" that's written in stone!!! One thing I noticed that nobody commented on yet was that Jefferson seems to have gotten rid of the "long windup" that the TV announcers for the Arkansas game kept commenting on. JJ looks like he came a long way so far, and is responding to coaching and will continue to develop. I wonder how good he's going to be in another year or two? Shepard looked good and was exciting to watch on busted plays because you never knew what was going to happen. I hope he doesn't lose too much yardage on those plays when he reverses direction more than once in the backfield next season. He certainly looks like he'll be dangerous by keeping the defense guessing if he'll run or throw. In this film he kind of reminded me a little of Reggie Bush with the Saints on those plays where Bush didn't hit the hole fast enough because he was trying too hard to fake out NFL defenders that weren't getting fooled and spent too much time in the backfield. Shep will definitely make some huge gains for us. He looks like he'll be a force on the team immediately. Next year, I want to see the cameras zone in on Saban's face at the end of the Bama game and see the look of disgust as the clock ticks down and watch him grimace as he has to shake Miles' hand!!
Just playing devil's advocate, but could this be because Les and Company don't want us laying the wood to our own guys in a spring game?
I thought Richard Murphy looked good, JJ looked good aside the to muffed snaps that i saw, Lafell was making some great catches, C. Scott looked good, Chris Toliver i thought looked pretty good, patrick peterson had his 60 plus yard pick 6, he looked great, Jai looked pretty good. Did see Charles Scott line up at tailback with Keiland at fullback on the goal line where Scott scored. Keiland looks big, i wish Keiland would have been running the ball for the purple team the whole time, and not just at the end, it seems like LSU's version of Rudy Patrick Lipoma got way too many touches, unless he was used mainly as a punching bag for the defense. Shepard had some good throws, the Peterson pick 6 was not one of them. Can anyone out there confirm if Charles Alexander was injured, at one point i saw him hobbling out of the locker room in the middle of the 2nd quarter. all in all it was as expected, we werent going to see too much out of everyone, but i did see some things that i liked, JJ is miles ahead of anyone else at the quarterback position in my opinion, he was making crisp throws, and he brings some heat, he did throw a couple behind receivers, but that can be worked out. Jarett Lee looked alright, Chris Garrett i thought looked like the 2nd best option at quarterback, but he also had some balls thrown behind receivers, and Perry Riley picked him once that i saw. Based on everything that happened nothing will be definitive except Lafell and Tolliver are going to be sick this season. And i think our defense should be back to playing LSU defense. :geaux:
No, it means that the coaches have seen Lee more than the rest of the quarterbacks, so they gave a lot of his reps to Garrett so they could see him play. Jefferson will start, Lee will likely be the backup, Shepard will be the special situation quarterback and also line up in other positions a lot.
I don't know about his injury or if he's injured. But FWIW, from what I've been told he may not see the field as much as he'd like this year just because of how well the younger guys are playing. This could change by the fall, of course.
I believe I read on either Rivals or Scout that Alexander hurt his hand (dislocated finger or thumb). To Swerved's point - I kinda thought both DL's played pretty well and both OL's looked a bit on their heels - but that's just from limited film review. When you consider that the defense executed well with ZERO stunts or blitzes, then I'd say we can expect a return to solid if not dominant LSU defensive play.
Thanks MikeDTiger for the link, watched and enjoyed. Charles Scott is D man, he'll be playing on Sundays. He looks set to move into the top 10 RB in Tiger history, to me. I like Garrett's arm best of the QB's, he has a cannon with accuracy. Understand he'll most likely redshirt, but the future looks to be brightening at QB.
