I just posted this on another thread:

"There is nothing more classy & stylish than to show your superiority on the field, then extend your hand to the guy you just turfed. Figure it out, TM7! You prove your skills between the whistles, then you (occasionally) show real class by avoiding the trash talk & pulling the player up.

The camera LOVE'S that stuff! There are a ton of flags for Unsportsmanlike Conduct, but none for Sportsmanship.

And when ranked #1, #2, #3 etc., the entire football world is watching. LSU can either be looked upon as a gang of (deeply talented) thugs, or a deserving team of (deeply talented) athletes."

I believe that we just might look back at this season as one of epic significance, and it would be advantageous to tighten up ALL of the details that comprise a truly dominant and superior college football team.

Of course, CLM & all our coaches have to watch the tapes and make the corrections/adjustments week to week; but I also hope that someone in authority can sit the guys down and instill in them the want to be superior in their conduct as well.

Now, don't bash me out of hand; you want to talk hard, smash-mouth football and I am right there for that. But, when the whistle blows, the smart--the truly focused--player conducts himself properly in all aspects of his game, which includes respect for his opponent. This is smart football as well; it translates into fewer penalties, fewer "personal foul, number ___, 15 yards (for unsportsmanlike conduct)," calls.

Turnovers are dramatic, game/momentum-changing plays, and we delivered a bag of them last night; penalties are the kid brother of the turnover, eroding yardage throughout the game.

Bottom line...LSU Tigers can go all the way to the BCSNCG this year, and I want the CFB world to fear us, to quake at the thought of playing us and, at the end of the day, to admire us because of our talent, dominance, coaching, fan base and the personal quality exhibited by all of our players.

My only thoughts on all this...

WVU isn't exactly known for friendly sportsmanlike banter.

Not defending some of the stuff I saw, but even their coach appeared to be a complete jerk.

Many people feel the same about LSU fans, unfortunately. Sometimes any given Saturday, any given handful can get us all a label.

This is a very good post.

I for one do not want to get the reputation that Miami had in the past.

The trash talk was mentioned quite a lot on other boards.

I wonder if something happened last year which led to this. I don't remember ever seeing an LSU team talking that much trash.

I trust that Les will take of it!

I think that is being way too hard on LSU's players Tyrann makes plays all over the field and deserves to talk a little. I agree sometimes it gets to be a bit much but some blame needs to be on WVU they were pretty cocky and chatty as well. They also seemed to be chippy and none of our players play that way

Your answer is in your words.

No one is saying he can't talk ANY smack; only that it's a "bit much" at times. Further, to hell with what the WV players do. We're on another level than them. They're bush league compared to us.
