Albom says no remembers who is no. 2 and 3 anymore. What a bitch. Bob Ryan says he thinks the Sugar Bowl is what he is watching. He said if LSU doesn't win the game at least you know their gonna win the party. The little weasly bastard professed his man love of the mighty trojans of USC.

Well, don't you see that the Rabalais article does have merit? Coaches who are back-slapping with the media usually get better love from the media.

The truly troubling part of the discussion is that the coaches may revolt against the BCS. Now if you've read many articles about Nick in the national media the theme of his assistant coaches not really liking him get around. Now, coaches talk and he may not be the most popular coach among his peers. Which could mean some may say, "to hell with the BCS, I heard Nick is a real jerk to work with" I'm voting for USC"

Not a likely scenario, but it would never happen to Paterno or Bowden or Tressel

    Albom

I hate to hear Mitch Albom make a statement like that on national television. Despite the fact that he would be expected to make a statement which heightens interest in the Rose Bowl, from a MICHIGAN point of view (He writes for the Detroit Free Press and wrote a book about the Michigan basketball team), nevertheless he has won more writing honors at age 44 than almost any other sportswriter in American history, many of them voted by other sportwriters. Which means other sports media people from around the nation respect his opinions and do not see him as just another talking head. As for Bob Ryan, I live 90 miles from Boston and I can tell you that he is considered by many New Englanders to be a buffoon, and certainly New England is in a dense fog when it comes to college football (only TWO Div 1-A teams in the 6 states). Watch any Boston TV station on a Saturday night in the Fall and tennis and hockey (even pre-season games!) results are reported before the few college football scores they read, much less expound upon. Ryan's biggest fan is - Bob Ryan !

Don't forget, Bob Ryan is the guy who, a few weeks ago, said,"LSU is a good football story, but I want USC, I want the band, I want the horse!" That should tell you right there about his qualifications for evaluating who should or shouldn't play for the title.

    Mitch Albom

I know everyone loves Mitch Albom's writing but I don't. I read his book "Tuesdays with Morrie" and thought it was terribly overrated, just a very maudlin and almost girlish story about a nice old man and a dopey young one. I'm well educated and read a lot so I'm not just speaking on the basis of a casual observer. And Bob Ryan--he and Mike Lupica and the whole northeastern MLB-loving establishment are absolutely clueless when it comes to college football. He probably hasn't seen a game since Doug Flutie was at BC. Face it, the national press will never believe anything until their noses are rubbed in it. But that is going to happen, if not next Sunday, soon...

Well apparently these guys were under the impression that the BCS would never disagree with the AP. Guess they like to think of themselves as the foremost authority.

The human polls are conveyor belts. These guys don't do any thinking once the games begin. You get your preseason ranking, then you are mechanically moved up or down. A programmer could write a 20 line code to mimic what AP "voters" do every week to within 99% accuracy.

I would guess Coach Saban will give all the interviews
people want ------------------- AFTER the Sugar Bowl.

Why do it now? We all know how people & REPORTERS
tend to distort a story to make it APPEAL the way they
want. Saban knows EXACTLY what he is doing and he
surely doesn't want anything misconstrued to give the
    opposing team fuel.

Who of us really cares if he is media friendly or not?
In my opinion, he is the best damn coach in college
football, and he is doing his job just fine.

I’ve heard that when people are attacking what you are doing, you’re probably doing the right thing. BTW – Where are the teams of those coaches playing? Nuff Said.

The Sports Reporters seem to me to be nothing more than another collection of damn yankees who all try to talk at the same time. That little twerp Lupica ought to have his butt kicked just on principal. Ryan is a blustering blowhard. I stopped watching them long ago.

I agree pastimer, the guy who use to host the show, maybe he still does but I know he was sick a while back, was the only one on it that I ever cared about. Lupica is the biggest ass, had egg on his face when he blasted Stoops for running up the score on aTm and then admitted a few days later he hadn't even seen the game. Ryan was the one who got in trouble last year for saying that he wanted to smack Jason Kidd's wife. They are idiots, but so are most reporters.
