Spears is fat, Berlin is not good

Kind of a mixed bag in the Miami Herald today. This is not a surprise from Parcells, as he demands that anyone not named Parcells be in good shape.

And this is great news about Berlin. Somehow a bad ex-backup QB has a better arm? And to think I thought Fiedler was a noodle arm!

    Berlin is not good?

In other news, the sun will come out tomorrow and the grass is always greener on the other side.

I'd be interested to see just what kind of funky front 7 alignments Dallas runs this year. If Ellis and Glover are situational DE's now, but they want to run some 3-4, you would think they would want Spears' weight up so that he can defend the run better. I mean, they can't blitz two linebackers and expect both DE's to get to the QB consistantly, their run defense would even be worse than it was last year??

I saw a report on Sportscenter last night where I thought Parcells was praising Spears and their other first round pick - Jamarcus Ware out of Troy State. Of course, I was only halfway paying attention, soI could be wrong. Spears will be ok. He was a force in the SEC, which says a ton. No pun intended.

On a somewhat related note, Jared "Battleship" Lorenzen showed up WELL over 300 pounds (can't remember the exact number.) That guy makes me laugh.

Where did the Pillsbury Throw-Boy end up? I didn't think he was ever drafted.

He was an undrafted free agent but I think signed a two year deal with the Giants? Could be wrong.

What do ya'll think about this?

The Dolphins nabbed Daniels, in part, because they missed out on another former LSU cornerback, Corey Webster, whom Saban was prepared to take in the second round, only to have the New York Giants choose him three slots ahead of the Miami pick.

I hate to keep knocking on Webster, but I don't think there's any way NYG takes Webster with their first pick of the draft.

    That's right re: Battleship.

What do you mean there's no way they take him w/ their first pick? They DID take him there. They needed secondary help in a big way, so I think it makes sense.

Whoops, that's what I get for typing so fast. I meant, no way does Miami take Webster.

Wouldn't have been their first pick. Would have been their second round pick.
