Since there hasn't been any talk on this subject I am curious about everyones opinion. Putin is a former KGB officer, all the news about the Russian spy who was poisoned, Could this be the beginning of Communism once again? Two steps forward one step back philosphy? My understanding is that Russia and Iran have some kind of deal going. Sounds like the whole world is alligning against us? Will we be ready? :usaflagwa

a friend of mine occasionally goes on business trips to russia, and he says that it is his impression that the country is run by organized crime. i dont think there is much chance they will slip back to communism. i dont think the people would accept that. possibly some other form of wretched totalitarianism though. very hard to predict. i does appear that putin is as corrupt as anything, and that he is killing his opposition off, and they desperately need some sort of reform. things do appear to be going slowly downhill over there, but i am not sure, i dont really know or understand russian politics. it is something to think about though.
Russia won't become an empire again anytime soon, its asian and baltic "republics" are gone. It probably won't return to full-blown communism either. But they are definitely back-sliding on democracy and its looking like they may yet return to a totalitiarian regime. Aleady Russia is an authoritarian state. It is not a government of, for, and by The People. Of course Russian democracy may always work very differently from American democracy. But we need them on our side in any war with China. Let's see how open and free the next presidential elections turn out.
Didn't say anything about Eastern Europe? The other Soviet territories could be possible, they still have an army? I haven't checked out any conspiracy web sites lately, haven't done that since the concentration camps in America sometime around April or May? Why would it have to be conspiracy web sites? Other people on this thread seem to think something may be happening? Was it a conspiracy that this Russian spy was killed by the KGB or other people has come up positive for plutonium? I say no, the leftist Liberals that soon will run the government will see to it that the next president will think twice about going to war even if it is in total defense of the country anyway some claim we are in Vietnam all over again so it will take 20 years or longer to overcome that. They will also look to down size or punish the military in some fashion. Example, we can no longer interigate the enemy. Good bye to the USA, it was great while it lasted!
