Man On Lookout For Escaped Fugitive Shoots Self In Rear POSTED: 11:22 am EDT August 6, 2004 http://www.thejacksonchannel.com/news/3624296/detail.html BRISTOW, Okla. -- An Oklahoma man wanted to protect himself after hearing reports of an escaped prisoner in his community. So he tucked a .22-caliber pistol into the waistband of his denim shorts. But he left the hammer pulled back, and the gun went off, shooting him in the left buttock. Drew Patterson said at first, he didn't feel anything. But about 30 seconds later, he felt a burning feeling, followed by something warm trickling down his left leg. That was blood. Now that he's recovering, he said it "hurts fiercely." Doctors told him to keep walking to avoid complications as the wound heals. Patterson said it was "one of my most embarrassing moments."
