1. The guy only averaged 69 a game rushing (down to 53 if you take away ucla) and 39 recieving.. im not impressed... addai actually has comparable numbers without a top qb to throw to him.. Yeah, bush has alot of scores, but lindell white had just as many, and arrington had more total offense.. so i dont even consider bush the best representative of the puss-10 or even his own team! the guy is good.. he had a good season, but not heisman...
  2. We Are in Total Agreement, Loco

Bush is a pretty good player, but he doesn't even start!!!! That's right!!! He comes off the bench. This is Desmond Howard syndrome X 10. Every time he scored, it was shown on TV. What about all the scores for White, the starter for the troyboys?

Once again, it shows that awards have a lot less to do with actual accomplishment on the field as with how much hype a player can generate.
  3. He is a difference maker. He wont win it IMO
  4. i think bush deserves it over leinart. over 6 yards per rush with 6 tds, 12 yards a catch with 7 tds, almost 37 yards per kick return and 16 yards per punt return with 2 tds. Leinart is nothing without him. Bush without Leinart is still special.

Stefon Lefors or Alex Smith deserves the heisman.
  5. Bush is USC's MVP in my mind, and it is not even close. When teams prepare I would bet the number 1 agenda for the defensive coordinator is how do we contain Bush and not let him make the big play. It is real hard to justify Leinart as he is not even the best player on his team.
Bush could easily be the best college football player in the country, but he does not deserve the heisman. His turn should come next year when he actually plays a full game.
  6. He's very instrumental in their offense and probably the main reason they are undefeated this year. I also think he won't win it though.
  7. Alex Smith 28 tds 4 interceptions, completed 2/3rds of his passes and he is the best player on his team. Unlike the others undefeated Qb's this year, he has very little to work with outside of himself. He is smart, strong and will be the best QB on sundays out of the entire group.

Stefan LeFors--completed almost 75% of his passes, 18 tds and 2 picks.

jj arrington, cal RB, finished ahead of peterson in rushing and averages 7 yards a carry. Only back to rush for over 100 yards every game this season. If they had beat USC, he wins the award.

    Cedric benson getting screwed.

no way should 4 players from 2 teams be up for the heisman. once again, its not the best player who wins. its the best player on the best team.
  8. Code:
its the best player on the best team.
But this will not be true if Leinart wins.

Also do not forget Alex Smith rushed for 10 TD's as well.
  9. Agreed, they won't even get this one right.

i need to dig up my preseason Alex Smith lovefest of mine. I love this guy.

thanks, forgot to post the 10 others.
  10. had this arguement last night

last night I had the Bush is not worthy arguement on another board- here are most of the reasons-

    "Bush deserves it"
    my response:
Bush has no business being involved in the race at all. He leads his team in neither rushing(833) or recieving (478) yards, and only leads LenDalw White by about 200 for most total yards(1311). He is not in the top 100 in the country in either one of those stats. There are 8 recievers and 17 running backs with more yards than Bush has total. (J.J. Arington has over 500 more yards with the same amount of TD's, averages 1 more yard per carry, is a senior and didn't even get to make the trip.)

Bush is very explosive, but only a few times a game. No one seems to notice that he has gone for over 100 yards rushing only twice this year, and over 100 yards recieving only one time.
AND, although Benson got left out because he could only manage 92 yards against OU(the only time he didn't break 140, btw), no one remembers that in USC's biggest game (CAL), Bush managed a stellar 23 rushing yards and amazing 6 passing yards for an incredible 29 TOTAL YARDS IN THE BIGGEST GAME OF THE YEAR. And not one person in the media cares to bring any of this up.

"He is the game changer in the close games":

So he was central to the outcome of a few close games- their fg kicker made one fg in their 3pt win over stanford, made 3 in their 6 pt win over cal, and made 5 in their 5 pt win over UCLA. Let's give him the Heisman, since he was central to the outcome in 3 close games.

Without the UCLA game, Bush has less than a thousand yards total offense on the season, and zero 100-yard total offense games since week 3. Everyone assumes that since they watched him play one game against UCLA that he always performs like that. He had TWICE as many yards in that game than he did in any other game this season. The only time he came close was VT (the 2 games when nothing else was on and the whole country was watching, which explains the obsession with him; he also scored 5 of 13 td's in these 2 games). If you take out those 2 games plus his pretty good numbers against a crappy BYU team(124 rush,42 recieving, 2td's) , he averaged less than 80(53 rushing/26 recieving) yards combined and about .6 TDs(5 td's in 9 games) per game for the other 9. Impressive? Yes. Greatest player in the history of the world, as ESPN seems to think? Fraid not.

Also, in the biggest game of the year, Reggie Bush gets 29 yards (23 rushing, 6 recieving), while the other RB (J.J. Arington) gets 138 yards (112 rushing, 24 receiving)- yet Bush is in, Arington is out.
The same weekend, Cedric Benson gets held to 125 yards (92 rushing, 33 recieving) in UT's biggest game of the year (his only time under 140) while the other RB (Peterson) gets 225 yards-AP is in, CB is out
Bush did have 2 nice KO returns against CAL, which I'm sure someone will bring up, but come on. 30 yards? The heisman??

"Who deserves it more than Bush?"

Benson has 1764 yards rushing this year, with 179 recieving, for 1943 yards(over 600 more offensive yards than bush, and only 200 shy of bush even with return yardage) with 20 td's(5 more than bush, even with punt returns). Bush scored 27% of his teams TD's; Benson scored 42% of UT's. His yardage total is greater than UT's total passing yards, and his TD's are double UT's total passing scores. In short, he was the team.
He had over 200 yards and 2 scores against arkansas(UT won 22-20), 170 yards and 2 td's against Missouri (28-20), 192 yards and FIVE td's in the comeback against OSU, 180 yds and a td against kansas(27-23), and 178 and a score against A&M.
Is that not better than Bush?

Arrington has 1936 total yards, 14 TD's, and has gone over 100 yards in every single game. He led the pac-10 in rushing by almost 700 yards. Everyone says Aaron Rogers was the team, but he never passed for over 275 yards the entire year. Arrington rushed for almost as many yards as Rogers passed for. And last but not least, he outgained Bush in their head to head match-up by 109 yards.
Is that not better than Bush?
