Kentucky just wasted an excellent opportunity to win the game versus Michigan State.

But like most teams have done in this tourney, the last shot play call was botched.

What is going on with these point guards holding the ball until 8 seconds left while they are still way beyond the arc before they make their move?

I don't get this why you don't run your normal offense and try to get it inside and then maybe kick it back out.

Arizona did the exact same thing yesterday. Waited way too long before trying to force the action.

But lets just say they make the move sooner and get the same result. Then they give the ball back to the oppostion. The worst that can happen is overtime. But I agree that the play at the end of the ot was horrible. To not even get a shot is pathetic.

Well no, I am saying run a regular play and get the best shot and try to shoot with 3 or 4 seconds left. I would rather a better shot with some time left than the desperation shot we have been seeing in this tourney.

Yeah... They have been waiting till the absolute last second to take a desperation shot.. Giving no chance for a rebound and putback.

I believe that too. The point guards first thought should be to dish the ball. But, these guys just like to dribble for 20 seconds then shoot a contested 3.

I just fail to believe thats what great coaches such as Tubby Smith and Lute Olsen are calling in the huddle.

I think they watch too many NBA games where the NBA superstars make shots like previously described. But every time an NBA star, like Dwyane Wade against the Knicks last week, make the last second shots, there are many other where they take dumb 20 foot fadeaways and miss the shot. It's hard for the NBA guys to make the shots and much much harder for a 21 year old to make that same shot.

Personally, I would rather see them go to either wing to start the last posession. That way, if you drive it's not into the middle of the entire defense. You take your two best players, put them on either wing and let them run a play together (like Arizona did against OK St). The rest of the team should be on the weak side of the floor ready to swoop in for weakside rebound.

But it was entire unacceptable for UK not to get a shot off at the end of the 1st OT.

something tells me that they call a well designed play..

    then something happens...

    the play breaks down
    the offense is stopped

something happens, and someone feels like they have to win it all with one shot.

but its what we live to watch in the tourney right?

I suspect that they are calling similar plays as John Brady. Unfortunately their players are failing to execute plays, when facing serious competition, much like LSU does.
There was no excuse for Arizona they had a veteran team. Kentucky's point buard is a freshman and Tack plays like a freshman much of the time.
