It's an annual event and will continue to be until the SEC HQ is relocated from the Land of Gumps. It's blatant and they don't even care. Patrick Peterson out of bounds...leverage penalty...flag picked up for pass interference...etc. You can go back and watch games against Alabama and Auburn and see how they take cre of the home state. It's not just against LSU. The one O-line holding call against Alabama amazed me but was declined as it was 3rd & forever. The sad part is three different LSU players were being held on the play yet only one flag was thrown. I bet that ref will be fined, counseled, or fired.
How bout when fluker knocked freak down after the play and right in front of ref? Nothing! That should've been at least 10 yd unsportsmanlike conduct. Hell. Last week they flagged msu 15 for getting to close to the intended receiver then. Another 15 for Mullens bitching about it.
Here are some quotable quotes I've read so far. "If you looked at the stat sheet you'd think LSU won". - Lou Holtz. "We didn't play our best game" - Barrett Jones. LOL!!! I'd say not Barrett. You probably played your best game against Kent State or one of the other sub par teams you've played so far. "Sometimes the best team doesn't win". - I forget who said that, but very appropriate last night. "Boo Hoo" - A. J. McCarron - I really shouldn't be making fun of a 21 year old young man but you deserve it you arrogant little shit! <oops>
I really ranted about that last night. I was so angry when it happened I blew a gasket and had my wife and daughter laughing at me because I really lost it. Just can't believe that is not called when it happens directly in front of an official. Seemed like between that and the myriad of non-holding calls, the fix was in from HQ.
Interesting comments about the big game. I actually thought we did get outplayed last night and tried to say so. The game in some context reminded me of the battle in Tuscaloosa last year. This time we didn't do as well but finished with more points. I thought it was somewhat ironic as well that LSU's field goal efficiency let you down, this time around and at home. I thought Les didn't believe he had the best team and took chances he really didn't have to take. To Bama's credit, they were well prepared to stop all surprises and did. Alabama was tested in many respects. Going 78 yards in 43 seconds of the fourth quarter when nothing, absolutely nothing, had been working in the second half, was amazing. They stayed calm, composed and drove the field in the most hostile environment possible. To over look that would be to do injustice to the LSU team, and the great crowd that makes Tiger stadium unique. LSU deserves a lot of credit for the fight they put up. You may not like to hear it, but Miles had the Mett believing and it was a great offensive game plan. What could also be most ironic, last January's coming out part for AJ could work similarly for the Mett against Bama. I thought it was a great game and Bama was fortunate to get out of there with their collective football life. But I can only see it helping the Tide coming down the home stretch.
They grab and hold on most plays just long enough to knock the defender off his stride or slow him down, then they let go. They should get called for that.
My personal fav although I thought it was Mingo... The "perfect discipline" of Bama is just more fodder for the anti-SEC types and a national laughing stock. It would be bad enough to just quietly not acknolwege but their idiot fans actually hold it up as an asset. They held M&M on nearly every single play, arms around their necks. They are gonna be in for a surprise if they make it to the BCS Champ. Birmingham's got no pull with those officials.
As usual, your compliment is followed by a back-sliding insult. AJ did not put it all together at the end. Miles put in the "prevent" and Chavis went super-soft. Your receivers were wide open in the last 2min of both halfs because LSU gave them a 10-15yd cushion. Then when it was too late, Chavis commited his only major sin - an all out undisguised blitz against a team that had not been called for holding nearly the entire game. You should be thanking Les, not AJ.
No, last year in Tuscaloosa you guys did not dominate us like you got dominated in TS. It's also not ironic that field goal efficiency let us down, it's ironic that we made the same mistake with field goals that Saban made last year, putting our kicker in a situation where he couldn't perform. Alabama was tested alright, and they failed that test. Prevent D gave you two easy td's. I'll give props to your coaching staff knowing it was coming, but that's the only thing that saved your ass. I hope you're right about Mett having a similar experience as AJ. It will help Bama if only to get it through their fucking heads that they aren't invincible and hell aren't even the best team in CFB even though they are ranked #1. #1 LSU, #2 Oregon #3 Bama. Keep praying that KState and ND keep winning because you don't want Oregon. If we can put 400 yards on you, they will put 600+
