hell if u've seen the video it was...it looked like he threw both his hands out there...then ran out like the little pussy he is
Yep, it's a real threatening situation ... you have a football uniform on and some kid is running around on the field celebrating. Sounds very intimidating to me .... LOL
Statement from Head Football Coach Frank Solich Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003 Kellen Huston Suspended for One Game LINCOLN, Neb. -- After concluding his review of the incident that took place on Missouri's Faurot Field after the Missouri-Nebraska game, Nebraska Football Head Coach Frank Solich issued the following statement, and has suspended Kellen Huston for the Texas A&M game on Saturday. "Kellen is very sorry that this unfortunate situation happened, and so are we. After viewing the film and speaking to people who were at the scene, I truly believe that Kellen did not instigate the situation and that he was simply reacting to what he saw as a dangerous situation coming right at him. However, Kellen knows that we do not condone our players striking another person, and he will be suspended for this week's game." Huston addressed the media after practice on Tuesday, and said, "First, I would like to say that I sincerely regret what transpired Saturday evening in Columbia. My actions should not be a reflection on Coach Solich, the University of Nebraska, or our football team. I would never intentionally bring harm to another individual." -30- Statement from Steve Pederson regarding situation after Nebraska-Missouri game Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003 "Players must be held responsible for their actions. Kellen Huston will be held responsible for his actions. However, there must also come a point at which fans are held responsible for their actions. I have seen such an erosion of civility in the past several years that it is making it very unfair to players and coaches. When did it become the right of anyone to scream obscenities and ridicule another person just because they have chosen to display their talents on a football field? I have always believed that buying a ticket does not give you the right to say and do whatever you choose. The underlying problem in these cases is generally alcohol, but that does not excuse the behavior. I think weak people hide behind their actions claiming they did not know any better because they had been drinking. Often times, others exacerbate the problem by acting like they think it is funny rather than telling them how inappropriate their behavior has become. I would never claim that hitting someone is appropriate, but I was not standing in Kellen Huston's shoes on Saturday night. However, I was at the edge of the field and I have never personally witnessed such an out of control situation. It may be easy to sit in your living room and watch what you think you see on television, but be careful to judge others too quickly. Things are never quite what they may seem. I concur with Coach Solich's decision on disciplinary action in this matter. Kellen has taken responsibility for his actions by making his statement today."
he was only in danger if the fan had a gun. He is in full pads....Typical. Nice tradition they are building. beating girls, fans, etc.... Jail time is needed. They sould try beating the other team.
Boy, he must have felt in danger bigtime. A kid running by him looking the other way, while he has pads and a helmet on, is a really imposing figure. Give me a break.
If this player felt scared, why is he playing football in the first place? That's a chickensh!t copout. I hope he spends time behind bars for most inappropriate behavior. While storming the field is inappropriate, the fact you lost does not give you the right to just deck him to vent your frustrations. If it was self-defense as Solich claimed, why would he suspend the kid? I'm afraid the law will get involved here to set some much-needed precedent.
Pederson's comment is disengenuous. He stands for the proposition that he is building leaders through athletics. He can criticize a fan for running onto the field, but he should, as a leader himself, set the example by calling a spade a spade - just say that the player acted improperly and that they are sorry.
