Can someone explain taking our LB's, putting them on the edge, and leaving the middle wide open?????? Oh, and we soft.
Soft isn't the word. Gonna be a long season I'm afraid. Why the fuck were the guys in the secondary always out of position? There's some toast to go with that butter.
3rd and Chavis was very present last night once again. I knew once we played a team worth a shit we would be exposed on both sides of the ball.
We went to the nickel very early because of their success passing. We lose a linebacker when that happens and the defensive line just got manhandled all night.
I'm getting tired of Chavis. His schemes cost late in games have cost us too many losses that probably should not have been losses. Also, Chavis was supposed to be a LB coaching guru. Instead the LB's are probably the weakest group on the team. They take extremely poor angles and whiff far too often on tackles. They get sucked right up by blockers. The only LB who has played well has been Alexander and he will probably be gone after this year. The team appeared to be tackling better but last night every one was whiffing and taking poor angles. No focus at all. You can't blame the kids for that, that is on coaching.
There is actually a guy in the middle. His number is #31. There is a thread about him, in fact. I warned everyone about how soft we were up the middle. The DTs are not SEC caliber and we have no MLB. I predicted Prescott would run for 150. He never needed to as the game got out of hand. He did end up with 100 yards and several critical 3rd down conversions with his legs, however.
