Is this another rumor? Where would he go? A Div. 1 transfer and he'd have to sit out a season. I don't see that. Besides, once the new coach comes in and settles everything down he will stay...no problem.
Depends who LSU's next coach is... I am sure once we do get a new coach he will talk to all the players. They are no different then us, they are dissapointed and are concerned what the future holds but once stability is restored, our new coach talks to the players I am sure very few will transfer. I mean even with Saban we had transfers (Edwards, Lester.....) Attrition is normal, some may say its because of Saban. But like Daniels said, play for the name on the side of your helmet, not for the one on the back of your jersey. Hopefully being a part of LSU family has shown them, you can be successful on and on the field...
No offense to Xavier, but what has he done? I don't want to see him transfer, but I'm not going to lose much sleep if he does.
This is what i was talking about: Dec 24, 6:55 PM Carter watching situation BY SCOTT BROWN FLORIDA TODAY Xavier Carter, who missed LSU's last three games of the season because of a broken collarbone, expects to play in the Capital One Bowl New Year's Day in Orlando. Beyond that, the former Palm Bay standout is not sure what his football future holds. Carter said Friday he will consider transferring if LSU head coach Nick Saban leaves for the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins are believed to have dangled a contract worth $4 to $5 million a season as well as full control of the team in front of Saban. Carter, one of the most sought-after recruits in the country last year, said the chance to play for Saban is a big reason why he picked LSU over a number of suitors, including Florida. "He's a good coach," Carter said, "and he plays the best players, no favorites or anything like that." If Saban does leave, Carter said he will at least wait until meeting the new coach before deciding whether or not to stay in Baton Rouge. Carter, if he opts to leave LSU, would have schools lining up for him even though he'd have to sit out a season because of NCAA rules regarding transfers. A tall, physical wide receiver, Carter also has world-class speed. That unique combination helped him earn significant playing time this fall as a true freshman on a team that shared the national championship in 2003. Before breaking his collarbone in an Oct. 30 game against Vanderbilt, Carter had established himself as LSU's top kickoff returner while working his way into the rotation at wideout. His 10 kickoff returns for 203 yards lead the Tigers, who play the Iowa Hawkeyes next Saturday in the Capital One Bowl. Carter has also caught five passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Carter, who spent Christmas Eve with his family in Palm Bay, said he will rejoin the team today at 5 p.m. in Orlando. The Tigers are expected to meet in Baton Rouge at 1 p.m. for a 2:30 p.m. flight to Orlando. Carter said he does not know how much he'll play against Iowa. Carter, who plans to run track in he winter and spring, also couldn't offer any guesses on Saban. "I really have no clue what he's going to do," Carter said.
I think that any worries about losing current players will end if we land a big-name coach to replace Saban. IMO, it would take more than a Bobby Petrino-type to fully keep all players from treatening to transfer. I think Butch Davis becomes the front-runner.
man i just cant imagine taking a year off if i was an incredible athlete. i mean damn, you only have 15 years or so in you. every year of youth is so precious.
You have got to be kidding me, right? The kid is a true freshman! You didn't really expect him to come in and run sh!t in his very first year, did you? If you did, then you set yourself up for you own disappointment.
Well if he want's to take a year off of football and track but He loves these things. LSU is not going after some crap coach the kid still has a future. The press needs to leave these kids alone.
