I've always wanted to see a six man game. Some small highschools in Louisiana played it years ago and it's still played in some areas of rural Texas. Check out the rules on the six man site. My favorite is game ends anytime one team gets ahead by 45 after halftime. Last week, McLean beat Groom 99-56. Seems like it'd be fun to watch on a Friday nite, assuming they allow beer.:hihi: http://www.sixmanfootball.com/
Strangely enough there are six-man, 8-man, 9-man, and 11-man football rules out there and teams playing them.
No 2 on 2 with Dad being QB? Those games always rocked as a kid. BTW we played tackle... 2 hand touch is for pussies.... like Alabama kids...
Reminds me of the half court basketball- where certain players had to stay on one side of the court. Don't know all the details, it was changed a little before my time, but remember hearing high school alum talk about it.
I attended high school in Pennsylvania (graduated in 1960). The girls played what I think you are talking about here. I think they played with either 6 players from each team on the court, 3 on offense 3 on defense on each side of the half court line. There MAY have been 5 players on each team with one member who could cross the half court line, playing offense and defense but I believe it was 6 to a side. Only saw them play a couple of times and it was a long time ago.
My Sr. year of high school I attended a small Christian High School in Arkansas. We scheduled 1 six on six game and an eight on eight game with teams from east Texas around the Ft. Worth area if I remember correctly. It was the schools first year with a football program and I think scheduling was kinda tough, but all the rest of our games were eleven on eleven. The six on six game was a very high scoring game, but it was tough. Somebody compared it to backyard football, but a better comparison would be more like Arena Football w/o the weird motioning. The eight on eight game was much more like eleven on eleven because there were more down linemen. Somehow they managed to schedule Arcadia which was eleven on eleven and let me tell you......all us white boys going on to their home field was very intimidating. Anyways, we almost beat them, I think we lost by less than a touchdown. In that game I managed to hit their RB so hard that I saw (with my eyes closed.....i think) a bolt or flash of light when we collided. I got up still dizzy and managed to get back to our defensive huddle while he was knocked out cold. Sorry to relive the good ole days, but it took me back to those games. O and all that was in 93'.
