BATON ROUGE ? An opinion poll by WAFB TV Channel 9 here Monday had 75 percent of the public wanting LSU coach Les Miles to kick quarterback Ryan Perrilloux off the team for good. "I think he's had more than ample chances," season ticket holder and LSU graduate Mike Austin of Baton Rouge said Tuesday. "I think we need to move on. Everybody I've talked to feels the same way. Even the last time when they let him come back to the team, everybody thought it was just a matter of time before it happened again." Perrilloux, a junior from LaPlace outside New Orleans, was suspended indefinitely Monday by Miles for team rules violations. It was the quarterback's third suspension in 10 months. He was suspended for several days last season and did not make the trip to the Nov. 3 Alabama game for his role in a fight at the Varsity bar near the LSU campus. He soon returned to the team. He was also suspended last May after being cited by Baton Rouge Police for presenting false identification and reinstated when practices started in August. "I think it's time to cut him loose," Austin said. The majority of callers to the various radio shows in town also want Perrilloux off the team. One of Perrilloux's teammates said he too was tired of hearing about Perrilloux getting into trouble again and again, but he still supported him as did another teammate who called himself a friend of Perrilloux. "I mean I guess you could say it gets old hearing about him getting into trouble," said LSU sophomore wide receiver Jared Mitchell, a center fielder on the baseball team who was available before practice at Alex Box Stadium. "His decisions are his decisions. But we know he's a good guy. Yeah, definitely, he's a good guy. All we can do is support him." Mitchell said he did not know of other players bothered by Perrilloux's problems. "It is what it is," Mitchell said. "We support each other on this team. We back Ryan 100 percent." LSU freshman defensive back Chad Jones, who is also an outfielder on the baseball team, said he is close to Perrilloux. "We're friends," said Jones, who went to St. Augustine High in New Orleans before transferring to Southern Lab in Baton Rouge after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. "But I haven't talked to him. We haven't discussed it." Jones said he does not consider Perrilloux's problems as his business. "I don't see it as a distraction," he said. "That's his personal problem. To tell you the truth, I don't know much about it. It's not really our business to hop in and ask questions about what's going on." Jones said he expects Miles to straighten Perrilloux out. "Coach Miles puts you on the right track," Jones said. "If not, he'll make you that way." LSU opens spring practice a week from Friday. Miles said Perrilloux's status for spring drills is uncertain. Without Perrilloux, LSU's only quarterback who arrived on campus with a scholarship is redshirt freshman Jarrett Lee from Brenham, Texas. Link To Original Article
