I think LSU can whip this team even if Dandydon was playing QB. Why shouldn’t LM throw in the youngster and let him get the first win of the year? Sep. 3 is far enough away for Ryan P. to get adjusted to the system and learn the plays. It’s not everyday that LSU lands an all world HS QB!

no indeed. why not use the guys who will actually be playing to get them some reps? as we all know, reps are the most important thing. goes towards chemistry and making sure everyone is on the same page. i think LM should split the time b/w JR & MF. that way they'll both be ready for the bigger games. plus, what if we need to redshirt RP?

Unless RP just blows away JR and MF in practice, and EARNS the starting job (not just declares it with his big mouth), then he should be bench sitting in the first game. If JR or MF step up and play like they should be capable (let's not forget, JR was the #1 rated QB in the nation coming out of high school 2 years ago, and Flynn wasn't far behind, like #13 or so, and both should be able to smoke), then there's no reason to waste a possible redshirt year for RP on a throw away game. If both the current QB's suck that's one thing, but if they're playing well, RP should be sitting the bench until he's NEEDED.

Just my opinion. It just happens to be the right one.

I would like RP to red shirt. I would assume if JR or Flynn are the top QBs opening the season, it would be a wasted season for RP to play at all. Why not wait and get a real chance to play for 3 or 4 years full time.

I just want the man who earned the job in spring, summer, and camp to start against N Texas.

As I stated in another thread, only one true freshman QB has started the season opener in the SEC since 1945 (last year at Tennessee). If Ryan Perrilloux can do it over formidable competitors in Flynn and Russell, rest assured he is something special.

Well looking impressive in camp and preseason practice is one thing. Playing well in the SEC is something else entirely. No matter what he looks like in practice, he'll have to prove it on the field against a "formidable competitor" in one of the better SEC teams.

We'll just have to wait and see. I just wish he'd be quiet in the meantime.

Just for your knowledge - that's incorrect. Florida's Chris Leak was the number one QB that year. JaMarcus was a highly touted QB who i think might have been right for number 1 pro-style QB, but not all around. Matt Flynn was further down than 13 as well.

Also, starting RP the first game of the season would be rediculous without him earning that spot. How bout teaching the kid some humility & making him earn his position rather than just giving it to him, especially if there are more deserving people like JR or MF.

I want whoever the coaches decide is the best person for the job. Although I would love to see RP and what he has to offer.

NO NO NO. RP will not be able toearn the starting job unles the other 2 or in wheelchairs. It wouldbe possible to get into the game on total failures of the other guys but the NT game is not the RP debut. It is opening day for a team called LSU Fighting Tigahs. The TEAM has 10 games remaining with an SEC championship and a shot at the NT. Let Rp prove himself at this level before he gets the key to the city.
