Our offensive coordinator has hired Jimmy Sexton as his agent. Sexton doesn't represent any assistant coaches. Should LSU step forward and reward him with a big contract and try to keep him tied up for a few years?

If Jimbo has hired an agent that means he's not going to be an assistent for LSU or anybody else for much longer. He is looking to step up to the head coaching ranks. Jimbo has paid enough dues so that he won't have to start off as a head coach at some D1AA or CUSA or MAC team. He would be an attractive candidate for some major team looking for a coordinator to step into the head job the way Mark Richt did from Florida State Offensive Coordinator to Georgia head coach. We will be lucky if Jimbo is still here next year.

    One man's guess...

Our OC is MSU's next head coach.

MSU's OC is our next OC...

Morris Watts, welcome back to Baton Rouge!

Bengal B, I agree completely. I think LSU should make a concerted effort to keep top assistants as Florida State did for several years. I would like to think that staying with LSU for a few more years might put a national championship on a coordinator's resume. From there a coordinator can go to a high profile school.

Morris Watts wasn't exactly chopped liver at either of his two stops before "Agribidness-U"

He averaged 30+ points per game at LSU and at Michigan State.

Watts has proven that he can score points on offense with a good recruiter (in Saban) already. He's also proven he can score points using a sh!tty recruiter's players (DiNardon't)...

Say what you want, but Dennis Franchione went into a probation riddled program. So did Mike Price. Both are proven, talented head coaches (Fran might be a sellout, but then again, so it Tuberville, and he's a good coach; Price had vices, but look at his Wazzu team this year and tell me he can't put together a program and isn't a great coach?).

Butch Davis of the Dallas Cowboys went to Miami while on probation. Guy Morris took over at Kentucky, and so did Rich Brooks. Hell, Charlie Strong at UF wanted the Vandy job BADDDDDDDD...You going to tell me that Moo U is in worse shape-even on probation-than Vandy is?

There will likely be openings at Clemson and maybe South Carolina that could be interested in Jimbo. Could this be Joe Paterno's last year at Penn State? What about Washington who hired an interim coach when they fired Rick Neuheisal? Any one of them would be a better opportunity than Moo U.

I think we will be lucky if we can keep Jimbo one more year. He is going to be a great Head coach one day. And I don't think it will matter what situation the team is in, a head coaching job(espically in the sec) is something any assitant coach would love to have. I just don't like the idea of having to play Jimbo every year.

Just because Jimbo hired someone to represent his interest, does not mean that he is looking immediately depart LSU. He understands what he has and the potential. Each of you have very good and valid points. I think Jimbo is going to let someone market him and let his success do the talking. If he intends to go, I'd rather it be at the end of this season, so a new coordinator can be in place before spring practice begins.
