Cindy Sheehan is in BR talking her nonsense. She was at a church yesterday and will be at LSU today. I'm curious to see the response she gets on campus. Full Story
lsu is making a mistake giving the publicity whore a stage. they should give the anti-war perspective to an expert on global politics, not a camera seeking moron. bad move by LSU.
Typical commissioned army female. Women shouldn't be allowed a commission. It's a waste of tax payer's money. The Marine Col. should put sheehan in her place. Some of you people need to get over there and represent. :hihi: No offense meant to any of our great female posters here. I don't believe any of you are in the military anyway. To be perfectly honest, I don't think any women should join the military. At least not in the capacity that we allow them to these days. I don't know about ya'll, but there is zero chance that my church would allow sheehan a place to speak. Zero.
I guess it's good that they are holding this dual-perspective discussion on campus. It only helps our image to get nationally known people here. BUT, I can't help but feel that I don't want anyone to give her anymore of a stage because I agree with martin, she's a media whore who isn't even qualified to debate such a topic.
All political bias aside, she is a retard. What kind of qualifications does she have? Oh, her son was killed in combat? Well, then, there are about 2,500 other moms with the same qualifications. At least Al Franken was someone who knew what the hell they were talking about. Maybe it's just a ploy by the conservative administration at LSU to make the anti-war perspective look bad [Insert 'that side already makes itself look bad' joke here, neocons! I'm leaving it wide open for ya!].
al franken is a dishonest fellow. there is a reason why he is always arguing with o'reilly. they are opposing sides of the same coin. they are both hacks. i dont see why people are opposed to actual policy experts in favor of media idiots or publicity hounds. the people we should hear debate are policy experts, in academia and government. not attention seekers. even actual policy-analyzing writers like andrew sullivan and christopher hitchens are acceptable. people are chooisng debaters on the amount of press time they get/want. one standard we might consider: if you ever published a book with your own face on the the cover, you are out of the serious national dialogue.
As is the case with anyone with such an overt political bias. I just used him as an example because he spoke at LSU a couple of years ago. But I give him more credit than Sheehan (which doesn't really say much at all) because he is at least somewhat informed.
