Just curious, but as LSU fans, how do you guys feel when Shaq makes those stupid and/or ignorant comments? Like when he spelled idiot as 'i-d-o-u-t" or thinking that the Parthenon in Greece was a nightclub. I'm assuming he does that to be funny, but I would consider that to be a slap in the face at the education he received and those a slur to all the other LSU students. You can be funny without mocking the education you received in college. You're right. I misspoke, and should have continued saying that Shaq didn't maximize his potential.
Shaq is one of the more entertaining players in NBA history, and certainly the most comfortable "big man" in his own skin. I delight in Shaq's theatrics as he realizes he is an entertainer, not just an athlete. Nothing wrong with it, and to say that his sense of humor is a slap in the face of an academic institution is kind of comical itself. It's all in good fun. What's wrong with that? Brian ~Go Tigers!~

i didnt take the time to read mosts of the posts. no question he underachieved as defined relative to what he could have done, not to what others have done. the most obvious evidence of this is longevity. if he was more disciplined, he could have kept his weight down and been dominant for longer---even now. another clear way he could have been much better is at the line. if yao can do it, shaq can do it. i think he had the record for a while of fts in ncaa tourney game without a miss, 12. all that said, he's certainly in the running for best ever.
shaq is smart, and hilarious. can you dig it? remember that time he was told that his body mass index number classified him as "obese"? he responded with: "I've read that same formula, but as an athlete, I'm classified as phenomenal...You can look it up." genius. and anyways, even if he says dumb things, he isnt doing a disservice to his university, he is just saying dumb things. if discrediting your university was that easy, joe theisman would have ruined ND ten times over. throw in brady quinn's haircut, and notre dame would be demoted to a middle school.
