Is it just me, or does every other SEC school's fans want Nick to leave! They all keep posting any article they can find about Nick leaving here for the NFL. Yet they neglect to mention what he has said in interviews and the articles they say he wants to stay!

That and they don't always have there facts correct either. I think they are just a bit bitter!

It ain't limited to just the SEC either. ESPN has been practically pleading with him to go to the NFL. I'm not stupid enough to think that everyone wants to see LSU settle back into mediocrity, but I do wish people would pay attention to the fact that he specifically said he was staying at LSU.

what I meant is everyone in the SEC is jealous and doesn't want LSU to keep him so they take anything they can get as hope that he will leave, where as ESPN reports anything they hear, i don't know if they are HOPING for him to leave.

They're trying to put a damper on our recruiting. I'm sure we'd do the same if, say, another school had an outstanding coach that out-recruits everyone 3 years-in-a-row. I'd want to do as much damage by making recruits think twice about signing with him.

Incidently though, I'm about as fed up with all the "Saban to the NFL"-talk as I possibly can be. I wouldn't want Saban to leave. I DON'T WANT Saban to leave. If it were up to me, I'd chain him down to Tiger Stadium!!! ...But, sadly, it's not up to me. And it's not up to anyone else but Saban himself.

I'm at the point right now that if Saban would say, "After the Sugar Bowl, I'm leaving for the NFL", then it would almost be a relief. Name either Muschamp or Jimbo as the head coach, and our staff remains in tact, and our recruiting efforts remain strong.

But, truth be told, the limbo that we find ourselves, dispite Saban's quotes about "Not going anywhere", CAN really be B.S. Of course he would say that--he wants to keep his team and his players focused and up-beat! Anything less than "My focus is on the National Championship game", by Saban would be crazy!

However, like I said, if Saban wants to go, then that's his right. We can't make him stay if he doesn't want to. But should he leave, I would hope that Skip has enough sense (which I believe he does) to offer the head coaching position to one of our coordinators right off the bat--keeping our recruiting efforts strong.

Here's to Saban NOT leaving!!! *cheers* ....But here's to the naming of Muschamp or Fischer as head coach should Saban decide to cash in and leave for the NFL. *cheers*

Only if they are fully ready when or IF Nick does ever leave. Not now though, neither are qualified at this time to run a program at Nick's level.

It's mostly penis envy but than again we're the same way, especially before we had Saban. On the other hand I think all SEC fans love to have good coaches at the schools as they know it brings up the whole conference (excluding Vandy and UK), and if you go to other boards outside of the SEC you will see SEC guys comparing the SEC coaches to other conferences. We all have some pride when talking about the Sec, kind of like when you bash your little sister but let some outsider say something and you're all over them.

Saban must be saying something to these great recruites because they keep committing. Why would Saban leave this early last year was a #1 recruiting Class I really think a coach wants to see what he can do with a class that has a Jamarcuss Russell in it. In the future some of these out of State guys will come to LSU because LSU has won national championships and they come for LSU like they do in Miami. But, right now they are coming to LSU because of Nick Saban and Nick is giving them reason to come becuase he is telling them he will be there. With the Articles in a the papers and on the net Saban is telling them its not true.

Jimmy Sexton is meeting with these NFL teams and Saban probably hears about it in the news because he is preparing for OU and Sexton's job is to find out whats out there for Nick Saban you see Sexton gets a commision on how much he gets Saban in his next contract so Sexton does it for himself as much as Nick Saban.

Its not just Sexton talking to these people. The NFL knows that the only way to Nick is through Sexton. So they talk to Sexton, and it gets to the press that these NFL teams are talking to "Nick." Sexton is paid to be the middle man and take these calls. That's his job so Nick can focus on what's important...LSU football. Lately, Sexton tells Nick who is interested and Nick says not interested. Its just part of the system....and its working.

Sexton is in New Orleans this week meeting with Emmert and Bertman on the details for the new contract. They will present the contract to Nick when the Sugah is over, he will sign it and we will have him for at least 4 more years. This all conjecture on my part but if the writers can base their articles on it that I can too. Sexton IS in New Orleans though.

Yes, most of our competition keeps saying it because they know the power that Saban now wields in the SEC. If he doesn't leave(which he won't for the next few years) he will be THE coach in the SEC, much the same way Spurrier was over the last decade. Reasons to ignore these comments and reports: 1. Listen to what he's said. 2. He's not new to being coveted by the pros(turned down Giants pre Fassel, turned down Colts pre Mora, Jags barely made contact with his agent). 3. He's not going to go just for the $$$(which will need to be in the 5-6 mil range), because he will want control of the football operations. Not only will most owners not shell out that type of money, most openings already have GM's in place or are hiring ones that will have a say in personnel, players and other facets of the football operation. 4. While all this speculation has gone on over the last month about Saban, he's quietly been out recruiting the top class in the nation. 5. Most of the people who bring up these stories are poorly informed about Saban's situation at LSU. People who are the NFL insiders continue to say that although Saban's agent will entertain contact from pros, Saban continues to let them know he's happy at LSU and doesn't really want to leave LSU at this point. Those who drub these rumors or stories up tend to be real ignorant about Saban and LSU. 6. Look at what he's built at LSU. Would it make sense to leave right at the point where the fruits of his labor are beginning to pay off? No, he's got the makings of a championship football team for years to come. Why would he bolt for another rebuilding problem in the NFL after watching how difficult it can be. Parody in the NFL is a huge problem for coaches today- very difficult to stay at the top because the talent is so equal across the board. One year you could be Super Bowl Champ and the next fearing for your job. In college football you can have a powerful football program for many years if handled well. I say ignore the ignorant and enjoy the fact that ENVY and JEALOUSY are prevelant amongst the competition to the point they would have to hope for our coach to leave- it means LSU has arrived as a perennial power in college football.
