What happens if all of the teams are in 5 spots of each other in the BCS? For example: 5 UGA 8 UT 10 FL
only way to play florida is for Tennessee to lose, then it become a Ga-Fl tiebreaker and Florida is in because they beat Ga
Florida needs to get past TN in the BCS and be within 5 spots of GA. Then they win the tie-breaker. It may not be necessary for TN to lose for that to happen.
On the other hand, if GA loses to GaTech they could drop to being the 3rd of the East teams in the BCS rankings (if TN and UF win). Then we play TN 'cos they beat UF! Put differently, UF needs GA to win to have a chance to beat them out for the title game. Sigh. The tangled web we weave when tie-breakers we hastily conceive.
That's right. That's why we need to be pulling for Florida to beat Florida State. Not only will that help OUR SOS, but it could set up a rematch w/ the Gators...something I'm sure we all want.
It is almost mathematically impossible for Florida to pass up Tennessee in the BCS. Some of the polls would have to list Florida within the top 5. The NY Times poll has rec'd flack for listing Florida at #4. It could happen, but are there are too many two loss teams for that to be legit. (Michigan Texas Tennessee etc) Tennessee has only two losses compared to Florida's three. And Tennessee beat Florida head to head. How fair would that be? Florida's best chance to get into the SEC CG is for Kentucky to upset Tennessee. That would do it outright, regardless of the Florida-FSU and Georgia-Georgia Tech outcomes.
