According to lsusports.net, Kristen Schmidt has been named MVP of the Women's College World Series, the first time a player who didn't play in the finals received the award. What an incredible honor for a gutsy player. Congrats Kristen!

    Hell yes!

I applaud them for having the guts to do the right thing. They could have easily given it to the starting pitcher of UCLA. But what Kristen Schmidt did on Sunday will never be repeated again.

Pitching 3 complete games in one day is simply unimaginable. I hope she didn't do any permanent damage to her arm.

actually its not like you would think....underhand fastpitch softball is nothing like baseball as far as wear and tear on an arm. Usually the best pitcher on a team in trnies pitch every game most everyday. The human arm just doesnt have the same stress as you would think. While what Kristen did was a gutsy feat, its not unheard of. Ive seen the same girl pitch 5 games in one day many times in tournaments I've attended. My dad coached girl's softball teams for about 20 years and I was always amazed it was that much different.

Im not taking anything away from her, I applaud the fact she earned the award.

Yeah but pitching under the conditions and pressure Kristen was pitching is another story, as well as what was on the line.

was just informing you on softball fastpitch over baseball. of course in the early 1900's baseball pitchers did the same thing so who knows....

Yeah I got what you were saying. What she did was not that unusual as far as the amount of pitches she threw. But the quality of pitches against the best competition in America and under stressful conditions makes this day for Kristen something special.

3 WCWS elimination games in one day is one hell of a pressure filled day of pitching. I didn't watch enough of the other games to say myself who deserved the MVP but it does indeed say a lot to be the only player not on the winning team and not even in the championship game to win it. No doubt she did the Tigers proud and if she is as tough in the courtroom as she is on the mound(circle) she should be one hell of a lawyer. However lawyers are the scum of the earth so I hate to see her lower herself from the status of MVP to ambulance chaser. No offense to the scum sucking lawyers on this site.    :thumb: :thumb: :hihi:
