LA deserves what it gets the next four years. There was a chance to pull out from the past with both the governor's race and the insurance commissioner's race, but as usual Louisiana (at least a majority) would rather stay at the bottom and put people in office who are part of the problem.

I had hoped this election would offer some type of hope that I could one day move home.

By the way I if you do not know where the Texas border is you better find it fast before the line to get over here gets to long.

The Governor's Race, I can live with. While not much will change with Blanco at the helm in the way of business tax structure, govt. budget reduction, and such, elementary/secondary education will continue to improve and at least Blanco is willing to travel abroad and go out on a limb to get new business to come to this state, unlike Mike Foster. While Blanco isn't much of a boat rocker, she also is not a radical who will cause our state too much damage. But make no mistake, an oppurtunity to make progress was missed tonight by the people of this state, simply because too many good ol' country folk in this state, black and white, just couldn't bring themselves to vote for someone who looks, talks, and acts just a little bit differently.

As for Insurance Commissioner's race. :dis: :dis: :dis:

I just don't get it. I really don't. The people of this state missed a golden oppurtunity to clean up that vile cesspool of a state agency, get an honest man in there, clean up fraud and waste, and get our insurance rates (some of the most outrageous in America, across the board) under control. Robert Wooley is part and parcel of the old way of doing things in that office, make no mistake about it. Dan Kyle offered a fresh perspective, a chance to move in the right direction. Wooley offered nothing but the SOS (you know what that stands for).

Get ready to send our fifth consecutive insurance commissioner to the pokey.

Bottom line - this is NOT a Pat Robertson state. We don't look to the government for our spiritual guidance. He was in trouble the second he took robertson's eight pieces of silver.

Nope. Pat doesn't do silver anymore. Now, it's gold. Pat has been busy worrying about his gold investments in Liberia ever since Charles Taylor was run out of town. I doubt he would have had much time for Louisiana. It just wouldn't be profitable enough.

I could ask the same question about vote buying and bribery (blanco).

Robertson is the figurative head of the christian coalition. Jindal's FIRST move was to wrap up their support.
You sleep with snakes you will get bitten.

Buzz, thanks for the correction - actually, it used to be diamonds, now he's into bullion - never was silver.

My problem is with the Christian Coalition and the Republican party - not Jindal. Pat Robertson has tremendous influence over your party. However, I did not make a direct connection between Robertson and Jindal. I was merely pointing out the empty morals and hypocrisy of one of your leaders.

    Re: Re: Same Old

That has nothing to do with it. I only hear this kind of stuff from you and Cottonbowel. Are you and the rest going to start up that Jindal was from the Taliban wing of the Republican Party. Are you guys still willing to stoop to those levels.

Since it is obvious from a state away that Blanco does not have a clue and was not the better candidate this kind of thinking must be to allow you to blame the problems over the next four years on Jindal and Robertson instead of Blanco. Which will help you justify your no vote or your vote for Blanco which ever you finally decided. Very convenient. I mean it is not the fault of the people that were forced to vote for Blanco because Jindal even though he had actual ideas and was the brightest candidate let himself be a puppet for Robertson forcing people to vote for Blanco who otherwise would have voted for the better candidate. Every bad decision by Blanco will be Jindal's fault. Cottonbowel has already proven that the uneducated that the Democratic party relies on year in and year out will probably buy it as well. Blanco can stay in power for a second term. You can live guilt free, and the beat just keeps going on and on in Louisiana.
You know the Constitution and you know that even the Pope, Dali Lama, or "input religious leader here" would be limited as to what he or she could do as Governor of Louisiana. Your comment in regards to a state election have no merit. Just typical democratic scare tactics.

Actually, I thought Jindal would have made a fine govenor for just the reasons you stated (from what little I've seen of him). But, are you going to vote for the candidate who does have a clue, is the brightest, and has the most ideas in the next presidential election. No, I didn't think so.
