http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2166985 I've never been a big fan of going to Saints games (professional games in general are such a let down after a night in Tiger Stadium or any other major college stadium), but if they continue to play in Baton Rouge for the next couple of years I can see myself getting hooked. It looks like the superdome isn't as bad off as they once thought. It may not have to be torn down. That means no new stadium for Benson. Bye Bye Saints.
The state and city would be doing themselves a huge favor in the long run if they just went ahead and built a new stadium. By the time all the repairs AND renovations are done to the Superdome, they might as well build a new stadium. How long will we get out of a refurbished Superdome? 10 more years tops? Sounds like we are about due to trade in for a newer model to me...
The Dome will now get the renovations Benson wanted, and the State will foot the bill like he wanted. This deal will be easier to close now, I don't think the Saints are going anywhere.
I haven't seen any new articles on the Dome, they were going to have inspectors look at it to see if it could be fixed or have to be torn down. Doesn't seem like they have had enough time to determine that yet. The thing is insured for over $600 mil altoghter, seems like they could tear it down and build a hell of a stadium for that with a retractable roof maybe.
Louisiana Saints And with this LSU should be able to replace the field at TS and go for that rubber grass stuff for a MUCH FASTER Field.
If another storm comes through, now that the roof has been comprmised, there wont be enough to rebulid.
Not turf that new stuff that everyone is using. That statement is living in the past. Grass was great for the days when the games were won in the trenches. It didnt matter if it rained because it was better sloppy. BUT nowaday when we count on speed instead of the pounding the ball a fast field in all types of weather is what we need.
