I figure there must be a few fellow sailors on TigerFan, so I thought I'd start a thread on sailboats.

I'll start with my boat, a 1972 Hughes 38 Mark II. This was a classic "racer/cruiser" of the era (Sparkman & Stevens design). As a boat that is 40 years old, she is part classic and part African Queen in her need for constant TLC, restoration, upgrades, etc.

She's built like a brick sh!thouse, is well balanced, and is fun to sail. Her drawbacks are her draft (6 feet) and her age (which means there are a bunch of things that need tending to: leaky fresh water tanks, needs the head renovated, cabin sole needs to be taken out and completely refinished, deck has drip leaks that need to be fixed, etc.)

I would love to see anyone else's sailboats, dream boats, etc.

Looks like a nice boat. I don't have one. I've never even seen one other than pictures, etc. When your sails are not out and the hatch is closed, can you just take the biggest of seas and pop back up?

Well, all boats with positive buoyancy should stay afloat.
