First off, for all those who don't care about this sort of thing, or want to say that it's too early or it doesn't matter, please move on to another thread because this one isn't worth reading.

Now, for those who do care. LSU's moved to No. 1 in this computer poll. What's interesting is who's No. 2. South Carolina! Also in the top 5 is South Florida. This seems to suggest to me that the SEC has some weight in this poll.

I've never been a big fan of this computer, because it seems to seed teams before the season based on some subjective measure. This is as opposed to Billingsley (which I like) who seeds the teams, but does it by keeping them in the position they finished the previous season. I think this is fair, because it lets teams who spent last season climbing in the polls not have to start so low again.

USC started the year No. 1 in Sagarin, LSU was 4th. I have a feeling USC will be No. 1 again if they beat Nebraska.

I will be updating my "unofficial" BCS Standings page throughout the day as computer polls and the Coaches poll are released. I get the feeling that LSU will probably be No. 1 in the BCS because the human polls should get a little tighter, and LSU should be way ahead of USC in the computers.

I don't see South Carolina at #2. What am I doing wrong?

As True Grit alluded to, the ELO-CHESS computer is the one the BCS uses.
