Quoted in the Advocate today about Bears' GM visit to LSU: "It would be wrong to make any assumption that it was about anything else," Saban said. "Because there isn't anything else to talk about. I'm happy to be the coach here. "There's nothing else to it. And I wish you guys would get off of it, all right, because it's not right. It's not fair to me. ... I'm telling you that it's not worth it. ... I mean they have a coach there now, and I'm sure they're trying to win their games. I'm the coach here and I'm trying to win our games. ... And there's really nothing else to it. Nothing else to it. Nothing." Well said Nick. I suspect he means it unlike Coach Frannie who lied through his freaking teeth when questioned about his commitment to Bama.
I said it the other day, I believe him. He got upset about some of the coaches that he hired when he came here, came and left like the wind. He wanted commitment from these guys and didn't get it. That shows me he wants to be here, and stay here for sometime. No one knows how long sometimes is however. I wish I had the ability to make it all stop, as far as this same old thing happens every year. It must really suck being in his shoes and have this happen every year, it sure wouldn't help recruiting. Just because you talk to someone about a job doesn't mean your always interested. Kinda like Mike Shanahan going to Gainesville for a visit about the Gator Job. Maybe Nick gave them some suggestions about a coach he knows about throughout the coaching ranks.
It makes me want to kick some of these local reporters right in the sack every time they ask him about some NFL job!:cuss: I know they're just trying to investigate the rumors but leave him the hell alone. He may leave tonight but he said he's staying so drop it!!
I like Nick Saban and i want him to do what is best for him and his family. I would want the same for each and every one of you. If what is best for him is to take the job at Chicago then i want the best for him and would not blame him a bit. Having said that i think he is happy in Baton Rouge. I see LSU grabbing ahold of him and getting inside him. I am so damn jealous of him because he gets to coach the greatest school in the greatest atmosphere with the love of an entire state behind him. That is a special thing and i think Coach Saban realizes it. I am stuck out in California with the fruits and nuts and none of them are on tree's. Coach Saban if any California teams come and want to interview you for a position dont say no: but say hell no. Damn i am getting myself all worked up and getting ready for another tigers football game. I promise i will be ready for the game this weekend coach. You will hear me screaming all the way from No Cal. Geauxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Tigersssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Since the Bears GM and Nick are friends perhaps since Nick wasn't interested he was getting Nick's input on candidates or maybe giving suggestions. Nicks got connections and the Bears GM should take advantage of that.
