a friend just called me and left me a voicemail saying that saban is interviewing for the bama job. can someone please discredit this? i guess if i was sexton and wanted a fatter contract, i'd toss his name around (a la spurrier) but actually going to interview shows interest. hope this isn't true or is this true and i've been under a rock all week?

Quoting anonymous sources, the Huntsville Times reported that the university was set to make a push to speak with Saban as well as West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez. Alabama is looking to replace Mike Shula, a former Dolphins assistant who was recently fired after four seasons as the Crimson Tide's head coach. "
I dont think it is. If so, and he gets the job I hope LSU lays a serious beatdown on Bama every year. I would also hope Bama sucks during his tenure. Im not bitter at Saban for leaving LSU to go to the pros. I just dont like how he did it. Signing a new contract, saying this is where he wants to be. Then up and leaving. Had he given indications or left sooner, LSU could have made a play for Spurrier. Which would be hell for everyone else.
I still don't believe it, but if it's true, Bama may get a coach who can finally throw enough dirt on Bear's grave to convince everyone in Alabama that he is, indeed, dead.
Saban is one of the few coaches with enough clout to finally put the legend to rest. Although it wouldnt happen overnight. I give him his due, great coach. I liked him, but found him too conservative. Loved his defensive outlook though. Im a fan of the blitz packages LSU was using.
