I would be amazed if Saban took the Bama job or any other college coaching position at this point. I truly believe that his overriding motivation is to win championships. Having won the 2003 National Championship at LSU he left nothing more to prove at the college level (except being able to maintain that level of success). When he left, and I do believe it was a very difficult decision for him, one of the reasons he gave was to have a new challenge. For him that would be winning another championship at the next (pro) level. He hasn't done that yet. Now, having said that, if the Dolphins are sold, as has been rumored, and he doesn't retain the control over that program that he now enjoys all bets are off.:thumb:
Some Bama fans I know are saying they are about to buy Saban for $50mill over 5-7 years... we'll see...
That would be insane, even for Bama. There is no way a school(or thier fan base and boosters) justify paying a college coach 8-10 mil a year.
Well if I was a bama fan I and I do like most Bama fans I meet. I would be a bit concerned about a coach who "I am not going to be the Bama coach", "Bama should not have fired Shula" and can be bought... I like Saban but if Bama thinks (assuming he goes there, which I dont think he does) they are getting a long term coach, they are sadly mistaken. Saban will be back again making sure his name is in the papers and takes the next job that gives him a chance to be talked about and make a few bucks extra. Thats what we got, Mich State got, and Miami got. I know Bama things everyone dreams of being there. BUT the reality is Saban is a hired gun, nothing more nothing less. I hope they dont make the same mistake we, Mich State, and possibly Miami made. He is what he is... A good coach but he wont be there long.
Look, I just want the LSU Tigers to beat his butt in a football game, because I want to see the look on his face. I'll always be grateful to Nick . . . but, I just want my LSU Tigers to beat the Saban-coached Miami Dolphins. If that game could be arranged, I'll bet that the Tigers would be favored.  LSU! :crystal:
