I read this in the Reveille today but I couldn't find it on their website....thus no linky. It's still kinda funny to me nonetheless.... :thumb:
That was a Saban quote during his Monday press conference. Heard it live on the radio. It (shotgun comment) illicited quite a laugh around the room, and in the truck, too.
Actually in Auburn's case, you get 2 shots.....so I guess you only need be a half-assassin in that case.
Saban needs to recruit a bad ass kicker this year. Our kickers suck. Everytime we kick I hold my breath and pray like I am rolling the dice at a craps game. Our kickers are good for a couple of shanks a game. Most fans of other teams are only shocked when the kicker screws up, I am shocked when our kicker dosen't screw up and we make one. Pathetic, PAT's should be almost automatic and punts too. The only thing I wanna worry about is the other team blocking one. Let's start an alumni campaign to bring in a scholly kicker for next year.
Gaudet was perfectly fine last year on XPs and short FGs. Don't know why they put so much stock in Jackson when our 2 Kicker system worked perfectly fine. Now Gaudet can't even kick.
The kickers we have were highly recruited coming out of high school. Finding a great kicker in college is harder than you might think. Kicking the football is a very specialized skill and there are really very few that do it very well. Why do you think Morten Anderson has been able to stay in the NFL since 1982? The reason is because not many people can consistently kick the ball through the uprights.
and patrick fisher is as good as it gets yet cant even win the punting job. LSU needs a better evaluator of punters/kickers. it seems Bama and Tennessee always have great kickers/punters. they always dominate field position that way which of course, is huge in close games. we probably win with a great punter even with a missed PAT last week. Someone on here should walk-on. Cmon we need you.
