Saw some discussion here the other day about S&C. OSU fired their S&C Coach today. Rumors have been floating that he would go, Tressel gets his new contract and the next day this guy is gone. Confirmed at another source. It sounds like they have a replacement lined up, so I am not worried about poaching. Who in the SEC would want this guy; he was 2002 S&C COY. As discreetly as this is being handled, it makes one wonder what was going on at the horseshoe. http://www.buckeyecommentary.com/ Allan Johnson, Ohio State's Director of Football Strength and Conditioning, is leaving the program according the WBNS (and its affiliates) in Columbus. Weird thing is, while WBNS and 1460 The Fan have reported it over the air, there are no articles to link as yet. However, there is this thread on BuckNuts, in the meantime. This would be a surprising move on several accounts. Johnson has long been credited for bringing a new and more disciplined approach to strength and conditioning. The team's strength numbers have increased since Johnson's arrival and I cannot recall a single game where OSU has ever worn down from fatigue. And, he's been a major proponent of facility upgrades, some of which have been completed and others already scheduled. No word or reason for for the leave as yet. Should be interesting whatever it is.
Hmm interesting. It sounds to me like maybe he wanted to be somewhere else and this is a cover-up? Or maybe it was being misconstrued as a firing, when in fact it was a resignation or agreement of some sort? Who knows?
