I didn't write that I had read ONLY the last few pages...I was just commenting on the last few pages. In fact, I have read the entire thread. You are correct in saying that there are many ppl. on here who have been hard on RP...just as they should be. There are also ALOT of ppl. who seem to want him to get another chance. When is enough enough?
I have looked back on my post and there is NO condescending tone...I have lived enough years to know better than to criticize too early or unfairly. ASU HAS had their own problems... In fact just 2 days before our NC game in Dec. our Coach Moore dismissed a senior, who had been starting for 3 years I believe, and he did not travel to Chattanooga for the game. The rules are the rules. Would there be this defense (much less this long thread) for a 3rd string linebacker? I think not. As for being open-minded, I am wide open to hear of any reasonable justification for RP to remain on the team...Especially if it does not take his importance TO the team into account. I also realize that I am a guest here which is why I try not to say anything inflammatory or anything else rude. To that point let us all keep in mind that it is a PUBLIC forum and all views should be welcome.
    Ya'll have a good day.

While I don't see too much wrong about your original post I will say this...it is a PUBLIC LSU forum and that was buckeye's point. You are a visitor and be respectful. Trust me we have given him his amount of trouble and he has taken most of it with a grain of salt because he does reconize where he is! I think that was all he was trying to say!

Stick around though he like having rival posters around!

[your squeeky clean program (seriously doubt that--1-AA programs aren't under near the scrutiny, and most players don't have NFL careers to blow)]. [/quote]

Sorry but on re-read I see something else....Buckeye The 'category' that this and most offenses would fall under is not PUBLIC scrutiny but the coaches scrutiny. I feel like that should be the same at every level. To your point that "most" 1-AA players have no NFL career to "blow", the numbers obviously show that most collegiate players have no NFL career regardless of the level but I think I know what you were saying.
As for moral superiority, how would one go about etablishing such a nebulous concept on a forum? Just wondering....

As for coaches scrutiny, this was the point I made earlier in this thread. These are team rules which have been violated, and I trust Les Miles to make a fair and even handed decision. It should be the same on every level, as well. My point a moment ago, to clarify, is that you shouldn't assume the worst and then condemn him publicly, when...

    A. You don't know him personally
    B. we are mostly unaware of the circumstances surrounding the latest suspension.
    C. He broke no laws, and his father just died. Cut the kid some slack.

Your saying (to paraphrase my reading of it), that he's bad for the team because he's a multiple offender, poison to the team, is the reason i sensed condescension.

I will reiterate, due to the lack of public knowledge of specifics, and the emotional nature of some of the latest circumstances, not to mention that these are KIDS, and human beings, that Les Miles, or perhaps other coaches and players in the program are qualified to give an educated opinion on the subject. Not to say we aren't entitled to our opinions, but a certain level of humility seems appropriate to me in voicing uninformed opinions. Les Miles will make the ultimate determination, and I would trust him more to do so than anyone else, particularly those in the media or otherwise outside of the program. Try not to crucify someone when you don't know their entire circumstance. That's all i'm saying. that and if you are a reasonable (not passing judgement here, just an observation) and remember that we're guests here, you'll find this to be a great board with fans who are generally very knowledgeable and grounded.
