Has anyone heard that this guy from Texarkana, who signed with Mich., is looking to transfer and was considering LSU or Ark???:geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
He looked great in the HS all star game and really outperformed Clausen IMO. Tall and has a bullet, straight pocket passer. Do you have a link for this rumor? Seems a little strage since he would be the starter after Henne graduates after this year. But if it was between LSU and Arky I dont see him going into that mess over there.
This one's been floating for quite a while. I don't know if it now has new juice or if its just a rehash. Mallet was know to be homesick and flew home for his HS prom a couple of weeks ago, but the dad pretty-much squelched the rumor at the time. If it's new energy, this would be a HUGE get for LSU - especially in light of RP. One has to wonder if LM's action on RP were in anyway considerate of Mallet leaving UM. I kind of doubt it, except maybe in the way of making it easier to do what was already in LM's heart and mind as the right thing to do for the program. I agree Mallet looked better than Claussen in the Army All-Star game. I thot Mallet was the #1 last year (based on the little that I saw). I did see the Army game and I saw Claussen in his game Oaks Christian vs. St. Bonneventure. Claussen looked good, but he was surrounded by a very strong cast of characters inclding USC's Marc Tyler and Marshall Jones and ten (10) other D1 schollie players: Link: http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=4&yr=2007 Click on the words "Westlake Village" under Claussen's name and it will pullup all the Oaks kids who signed in 2007.
Based on overall or the AAA game? Aaron Corp was arguably an equal prospect to Claussen and Mallet but didn't get invited to the AAA game. One more month of high school play and that would have been different. Claussen's shortcomings were produced when he played superior D's in the playoffs. He got rattled, threw an I, and verbally chased down his teammates. He was not comfortable coming out of the pocket and his accuracy was way off compared to league play. As far as Mallet, I'd be surprised if Carr can't keep him there. Lots of OOS kids struggle when they first get to their new home and many get past it with a little time and support. And I agree, Arkie would be a surprise choice.
While LSU may in the mix, this rumor has been out there since the day he went up to Ann Arbor. Every team has heard a rumor that he likes their school. However, I would love for him to come here.
"Shhhhhhhhhh. Aaron's our future secret weapon." Based on the AAA game and the OC vs. SB games only. I never saw Aaron play at all - living 2500 miles away, but yes, vball, you're right (again). <Damn> Aaron came on strong and won top player in Cali, I think ... or top QB, or something like that. Anyway, he beat out Jimmy C. A year RS, is going to make the guy very dangerous, to say nothing of the daily competition he'll face.
I've got a feeling that Mallett is not going to be transferring, seeing as the guy in front of him on the depth chart (Jason Forcier) recently decided to transfer to Stanford. This leaves the starting job open for Mallett to take after Chad Henne finishes up his career. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I just don't see why he would transfer when he has just been handed such a favorable situation.
Cause playin for Michigan just ain't the same as playin for a winner like LSU  . He can have his perennial losses to OSU and bowl losses but if he wants more he knows where to come.
Whoever has access to Scout can get more information, parents have been interviewed about the rumors: http://story.scout.com/a.z?s=162&p=...edURL=http://michigan.scout.com/2/639312.html
From this link http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=1809554 The caption under the title says "UM's future signal caller plans to continue his career in Ann Arbor." Both the article you referenced and this one are dated april 27th. It all sounds like old rumors put to rest but he would be a good pickup if he does decide to transfer.
