It just occured to me that Miami is going to be trouble to run against. We have not shown the ability to stretch the field and that allows them to put 7 to 8 guys in the box which is going to be trouble. We have got to find a way to stretch the field on these guys. That inability is the reason we have been inconsistant with our running game.:tigerhead

We couldn't run on Appy St. We have not ran the ball well consistently all year long. Miami will shut down the run. This game will depend on the play of the quarterback, whoever it may be.

It is a fact that the play calling very rarely spreads the field. Typically it is 2 WR's in an I formation. Put 4 WR's in there and spread it out, then hand the ball off. The play calling is going to have to be unpredictable as it has been. They will fill up the box and plug the run, and if LSU doesn't hand off the ball, then Miami is putting pressure on JR or MF. Therefore, quick drops, spread the field, quick routes, will be the MO for the offense. If MF plays, do some planned QB runs. If MF plays I think Miami will believe LSU will rely on the run. I just have no confidence in the run, with the way LSU has struggled, the way the OL has struggled and the great defense Miami has.

The play calling will have to change for this game. It has not worked well all year with this type of play calling. The offense has relied on the defense to hold leads and the offense has not beaten any decent opponent soundly with this offense. Something must change because now LSU faces the #1 defense.

The execution is what must improve. The play calling works just fine if the pass is delivered properly, the routes are run properly, the ball isn't dropped or fumbled, and the line doesn't hold.

While that is true, spreading out the offense may help us run the ball better. 3 or 4 WR sets might create a few more running lanes. A healthy Addai wouldn't hurt either.

Our Oline was a disappointment this year.

It will greatly depend on the health of our running game. Will this be enough time for Vincent & Addai to heal properly?

Will our Oline be up to full strength & able to create some holes?

It will be an absolute must to establish the running game on Miami. Their pass defence is just to tough ecspecially if we are going to have a new starter. The Miami defence will be a good match for Flynn, who probably will be scrambling a good bit during the game.

we are not deep at running back, see injury report. it's why we lost to UGA ..IMHO..... I wouldn't worry too much about it. We are going to have to get our wide outs to catch the ball often.... to win... we need to texas tech these miami fools... AIR BALL! :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige

We have got to find a way to create a mixture of run and pass. There is no way we will beat a team of miami's caliber by dropping back and throwing fifty times. We need to complete the intermediate routes to get those backers off the line of scrimmage and then pound the ball. We have to be able to run to win.:tigerhead

we better hope JV and Carey have a great day then... or Addia comes back 100%...... I've been hoping for one of those 3 things for the last 4 games. so far no cigar.
